We heard from David Adleman, who told us that Aaron Gordon was able to practice today. good news there of course he popped up on the injury report with left calf soreness and was a late or perhaps i should say early scratch to that last game calling into the staff in the morning saying he wasn't going to be able to go that's always concerning when we hear that about ag but the good news he was able to practice today so was cam johnson who is dealing with back spasms and we heard from him later in the day he spoke to us about what those spasms are like what it's like for him to try and come back and we will get into all of that
And Spencer Jones and Zeke Nagy, the other names in the injury situation here, they were not able to practice today. Spencer Jones is dealing with hamstring tightness. That's something to keep an eye on. David Adleman called it a day-to-day situation. He said the same thing about Zeke Nagy, who left the game early with left hip impingement, although it should be noted that we saw Zeke Nagy leaving the arena on crutches after that last game. So perhaps a more severe situation there, something to keep our eyes on. But what does that mean for the rotation? Peyton Watson still on a minute restriction, two forwards down. Means Jonas Valanciunas might be back in the picture, David Adelman told us. He played in that last game and he says he's going to be an option going forward here with the way things are with the injury situation.
That could demand a lot out of Cam Johnson and Jamal Murray, the preferred stagger options from that starting lineup. Adelman says if that's what it takes to win games, then that's what I'll do. So Jamal Murray, Cam Johnson, a lot of responsibility on their shoulders right now. The Nuggets, of course, are on a push right now to get that four seed and secure home court advantage in the opening round of the playoffs. Now, what does home court advantage really mean in 2026? You know, for some teams around the league, that advantage has dissipated.
Denver hasn't been very good at home this season, but David Adleman says there is still an advantage. Namely, you get to stay in your routine. You get a week to prepare. You play those first two games at home. That gives you maybe up to 10 days, he says. to just be at home and do things your way. Of course, the Nuggets have spent very little time at home this year, less than most teams around the league. So that could be a major advantage if they're able to get that four seed. If they're going to get the four seed, they've got to be more consistent on defense. David Adelman admitted they've been very inconsistent in that area lately. The last time they played the Jazz, the defense was not good. Adelman said, we didn't touch anybody.
That's become a favorite line of his after poor defensive efforts. They got a chance to look at the film. They got a chance to talk about being more physical. Hopefully, that's what we see from the team in Utah tomorrow night. We will also see Peyton Watson in Utah tomorrow night, who talked to us about his missed restriction, how frustrating that's been.
