It is of course the Wallabies hosting the Springbox over in Perth, joining us to chat through it. Aussie freelance rugby rider Christy Doran. Christy, straight at you. Do you give the Wallabies a chance in this one?
I certainly do, Jamie Wall. It's great for you to be able to talk about the big match being a Wallabies fixture this weekend. It doesn't often happen, but as an Australian rugby journey, it's good that the world is watching uh a match here and what it'll be about twelve months out from the the World Cup opener between the Wallabies and Hong Kong China. So uh a lot to look forward to. But yeah, I do think that the Wallabies are are a dead set chance against the box because you look at that starting fifteen and there's a a raft of changes obviously and you take out that quality Uh you're you're playing with fire, aren't you?
Yeah, that's right. I mean the the Springboks have made a bunch of changes, but of course the attention now is on that Springbok bench. Um bit of talk about the bench during the Greatest Rivalry series, not quite of being of bomb squad intensity, but uh this is this isn't just looking like a bomb squad, it's like a a nuclear weapon uh coming off the bench there. What what do you think about that?
Yeah, geez, anytime you've got Malcolm Marks, Oxniche and and Wilco Lowe coming off the bench, you you throw in uh Visa as well, Sasha Feinberg and Mugomozula, it's it's a scary looking bench. And if the wallabies aren't uh in front by the fifty minute mark, well then you can almost say goodnight. Um It's a scary looking site, and it's it you're right, it it does look like a nuclear weapon that's going to be deployed by Rassi Erasmus at some point. But you know, is it Tanyela Tupo that's going to come off the bench um for the Wallabies? Uh Alan Alatoa, another one there that they're they'll be considering about. And look, it's the the Wallabies set piece, if there's one thing about their side this year, their set piece has been pretty strong.
Uh the the Scrum the line out uh particularly. So It's a great opportunity to see where this wallaby side is, but you're right, it is a scary looking uh bomb squad of epic proportion.
It didn't take long to start talking about scrums. We just had seven weeks of that uh over in South Africa. But while we were over in South Africa, uh having uh a great time and an epic trip over there, the Wallabies have I guess quietly gone about uh amassing a b a bit of an unbeaten streak. Um is this is are you seeing in a a marked improvement uh out of this Wallabies team coming into this test match?
Yeah, it's definitely the the month, the defining month for the wallabies is is now and I've been writing it as as winter is coming and and it certainly is for the wallabies because the Argentinian side that they come back uh came up against uh was depleted, you know, missing half a dozen regular starters, up to about twenty players across the entire squad as well. So how much you can read into that I I'm I'm not so sure though.
