Up until about 72 hours ago, my thought was that we were just going to kind of recap the month overall and just kind of take it from there and see what storylines played out, what people needed to know. That can't be the case anymore because there is a player. who, to be clear, going into the month of July, Fink and our esteemed crew at 24-7 Sports had this player in the top 10 of the rankings. But Caden Daughtry, who plays for the Florida Rebels, won a Peach Jam championship over the weekend, Peach Jam obviously being the Nike prestigious event.
He has just pulled off, and Fink, give all the context you want, but from... From my eyes over here, having covered the sport nationally for 16, 17, 18 years at this point, one of the most notable July runs I can ever recall. He has been absurd. I got to see him in Vegas, and he was terrific there. But what he did down in North Augusta, South Carolina, all the more. So for anyone that's dialed into the show that might know a little bit about him, might not have even heard the words Caden Daughtry until they listened to this very podcast. Who is he? Where is he from? How fast has his star risen? Was he a known commodity a year ago, six months ago, two years ago? Who isn't recruiting him? Is he now because of what he just did at Peach Jam?

He's been one of the most skilled guards in high school basketball for years since he was an underclassman. There's been a discussion about his upside for years because of that size. Now he is gradually continued to grow. So he was actually much more undersized previously. This spring, while the national college basketball media has kind of just gotten hold of this story within the last week or two, he has been the most consistently productive player in the EYBL all season long.
