He has arrived from Dublin and we are going to sit and have a conversation about his gorgeous son, Ree. And I know we've a lot to talk about, but we've just been actually talking. I've been looking at photos and it's like, how do you sum up someone? How do you describe someone? But I could see in those pictures. Wow. this little character and the adoration between you all. So we'll try and go back. So your partner, Charlotte, you have three boys, eldest is Cone, Lou, and then you have King Ree. Ree literally means king, doesn't it? So will you tell me maybe about when Ree was born and joined your family, what that was like?
So real story starts before he was born. Um, we were living in North Cork, uh, in the countryside. Um, we had two boys, Cone and Lou. Um, and Charlotte, when Charlotte was pregnant, um, we had these kind of, I suppose, strange experiences, I would say. There was butterflies would fly and land all over Charlotte, all over the kids. They'd be on the school bags. We'd go to the shop, they'd be in the shop with us.
Wow.
Yeah, and like, it was so obvious, it was so in your face, you know, like it was, it made you think, I suppose, like, you know. Right. So we kind of felt from the start, Rue's going to be very special, I suppose, you know. We really wanted to kind of name Rue, I suppose, something to do with butterflies because it was happening so often, like, you know, and we initially were thinking, like, we need kind of like an Irish name, we wanted something Irish. But we were looking for a name, something to do with butterfly, we were looking at all sorts of languages and Yeah, so we wanted something like Butterfly, but we couldn't find anything. So we said, look, we'll go back to our original idea of something Irish.
So we came across King, obviously Ree, thought it was a really nice name. We didn't know it was going to be a boy or not, basically sort of trying to pick a girl's name and a boy's name. So Ree was obviously the boy's name. Yeah, and we kind of never thought anything of it. Like, we just, it was a nice name. Where he was born, everything was fine. So much so, like even, I think the day Charlotte was in labour, we had just music playing basically on our phones. And it was like a scene from Reservoir Dogs. There was like a song playing and the doctor was like giving the loads, dancing in the labour ward and stuff. Like, you know, it was pretty funny. Yeah. Even, like I said, even before he came, he just kind of, you knew the vibe almost.
Like, you kind of knew what he was going to be like before he came out. Like, you know. Wow. Yeah. So he was born, he was born to Tiny Dance by Elton John. It's really nice. Like, yeah. Everything was fine. Obviously, I had two other boys and we had relatively, I'm saying this now, not Charlotte, but straightforward labors.
Like, you know, everything was okay. No, we'll go we. Yes. We, yeah. You're involved.
Yeah. like one thing I will say is like I was so emotional when Rhi was born I wasn't that emotional with the other kids like you know like I said we didn't know what we were having whereas we did like Lou was born during COVID so it was kind of a completely different atmosphere different vibe and stuff like you know and I kind of felt like that's why with Rhi and during the labour and stuff it was much more relaxed like you were able to kind of yeah enjoy it in a sense like you know the experience I get you yeah yeah
