Chemicals at 10% Over Cost is Actually a Thing : Talking Cash & Carry
19 Jan 2026
Chapter 1: How did Titan Immell start his journey in agriculture?
Why should you, as a farmer, choose Steinbauer over our competitors? At Steinbauer, we believe in research and development. We believe in having a US base of operations with sales staff, technical staff, and a support team that can help you make the right decision and tune your engine correctly and safely.
Hey, Corey, remember that time you tried to get me to eat alligator? Yeah, at Buzzard Billy's in Des Moines. Yeah, that's right.
That's where it was. It's a great place to go, especially if you're going to be at the Casey Center or the Iowa Events Center or one of these farm shows, trade shows that are hitting up Des Moines because it's just right across the street.
Yeah, we know we've got a lot of listeners that are probably going to one of the farm shows or maybe even, heck, state wrestling, state basketball, all the events that are going on down there, even Whitetail Classic.
Great cocktails.

Chapter 2: What makes the AgHub Midwest and 10% Ag business models unique?
Yeah, I was going to say one of the best burgers. Well, you never miss when you go to Buzzard Billy's. Walk across the street and let them know that Farm for Profits is here.
Farming comes with trade-offs. An extra pass means dinner in the cab. An early morning becomes a late night. Unnecessary restrictions turn into headaches. But when you make Enlist Herbicides the foundation of your herbicide program, the trade-offs will be in your favor. Effective weed control that's ready to work when you are.
Flexible tank mix options and neighbor-friendly applications, all without the need to jump through hoops. See what you'll gain with America's most trusted herbicide system protecting your Enlist E3 soybean fields at Enlist.com.
Weather and timing, uh, talk fungicide. Um, it was a huge difference this year, uh, on, on corn especially. But, um, yeah, from, from your guys' take, uh, you know, what's, what's the value of, of timeliness application and, and having the ability to buy product like, uh, you can from our website and take to a drone operator or a helicopter operator like ourselves or...
This year, about 36 bushel an acre.

Chapter 3: How does precision technology impact farming efficiency?
Yeah, it's pretty big. Yeah. I mean, you could argue that for the cash and carry side and having your own sprayer side, even in the retailers do a great job, but if they can't get to your field because you're 30th in the queue and then it rains and then it's two weeks later and you missed your mark, how costly is that? Yeah, for sure.
So it's everything, not just fungicide, but fungicide this year. Yeah.

Chapter 4: What are the advantages of selling farm chemicals at just 10% over cost?
Guys, we got Tanner here and he's just excited. Excited because it's the middle of January. It's the doldrums of winter. And we are going to talk. What are we going to talk about, Tanner?
I don't know. This is a new topic to me, new topic to you. No, this is important. You as listeners, I've always been huge contributors to our content. Don't want to forget Dave sitting here as well.
This is actually new for both of you. This is not new for me. We're going to talk sourcing chemicals, I believe, and products like that.
We're right in the middle of a three-week series that are really focused on ways to provide alternative looks at input sourcing. We already know what next week's episode is going to be like, so we're going to get you some crop insurance updates coming in.
Chapter 5: How is aerial application changing the landscape of farming?
And we found out that that might be one of the only inputs that's going down in cost. We'll see.
We've got to talk chemistry. I just saw something come across X that said that we're actually trending down in input costs. I was going to screenshot it. I did. Like the other day, I was on it, and I was like, I'm going to send this to Corey. Were you feeling okay? Did you have a fever? I wasn't. Gut rot or something.
Yes. Brain rot.
Right off of X. Anyway, listeners, we always like when you interact with us. The best place to do it is on any social, wherever you're listening right now.
Chapter 6: What hiring challenges exist in rural agriculture?
There's usually a place you can go leave a comment or you can call or text us, 515-207-9640. Tanner is going to eventually play those for us. If you have questions for us, that's a great place to leave a question, either text or voicemail. I think it'd be fun to do one of those shows where you ask questions and we answer them.
Yeah. Play the question, and then we answer. I could do that. We just need more questions.
Yep.
So we just need to ask them for questions. Hey, send Corey a question. Yep.
We should have those phones with like 18 lights, and we can just answer. We can have Rachel on it.
Landlines?

Chapter 7: How can farmers break through growth plateaus in their businesses?
Yeah, landlines. That's good. Let's get into the topic today. Excited to introduce our guest, Titan here. He's the owner of Ag Hub Midwest, and part of that is 10% Ag.
You bet.
He's got a lot of things under that umbrella. He does. And I'm excited to dive a little bit deeper into that. But 10% ag. Am I getting 10% less of my product? What does the 10% mean?
Yeah, just a way for us to go to the wholesale market. So keep it really simple. We take cost on stuff, add 10%.
Chapter 8: What insights does Titan offer for modern ag entrepreneurship?
Really no hidden fees. It's really just a direct to the grower business model that we can cut out some costs for the grower, especially guys that have their own sprayers or their own equipment.
You know, the old way I remember growing up was a lot of people hired the co-op to come spray. That's great. They do a good job at that. But then you're tied to their pricing and what they have for chemicals in the shed. And I remember that was one of the first things I remember on the farm of dad doing was we had our own sprayer. And then he wasn't buying his chemical from the co-op.
And I remember we were a pretty small farm. I don't know, we were under 1,500 acres at the time, early 2000s. I remember him saying how much he saved. It was over $20,000 in just buying the same chemicals from somewhere else rather than the local co-op. And I'm not knocking on the co-op, right? They do provide a service for that extra cost.
How often do you know the margin ahead of time at where you're going to buy it? He just told us 10% over his cost, no hidden fees.
I'd say at an auction with Buyer's Premium, it's public. It's fair. It says you're going to pay 5% on top of this. You know what it is. It's very transparent. Legally, we have to say that. You don't legally have to say that, though. You're just trying to tell everybody, I want to be extremely transparent. We want to make 10%. We're a business. We've got to feed our family, too.
And here's what we're going to make. Here's how much it costs.
Yeah. For us, it was one of those things just trying to, I guess, add to the transparency piece because I'm not going to be in the market every single product every single time. Right. So sometimes I'm going to be 50 cents out, but it's a way for me to to just say, hey, yeah, I maybe screwed up a little bit here, but. You know, I'm only 50 cents higher, but I'm I'm 10 percent. Right.
So it's a way to just be very transparent and offer the grower, you know, security, I guess.
So right now, Corey, where are our listeners sourcing their chemicals from? What are the common areas?
