Examining clues. I'm Lisa Lucera, Fox News. The Pima County, Arizona Sheriff's Office saying they have finished examining the home of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today Show anchor Savannah Guthrie. The elder Guthrie was last seen Saturday night at about 9.30 and was reported missing Sunday morning when she didn't show up at church.
The sheriff today would not confirm that they found blood. He did merely confirm that they found, as he put it, DNA. And he also said so far they only have one match for that DNA, and that is Nancy Guthrie herself. He also implied that this was a targeted abduction in that he said he does not believe there is a wider threat to anybody in the area.
Fox's Jonathan Hahn, several of Nancy Guthrie's personal items, including her cell phone and car, were left at the home. TMZ reported it received a ransom note, but police would not comment on that. President Trump has signed the bill that ends the partial government shutdown, but sets the stage for a contentious debate over funding for the Department of Homeland Security.
A Utah County judge has heard testimony from a prosecutor and his adult child who was at Utah Valley University when Charlie Kirk was killed.
Attorneys for Tyler Robinson argue the Utah County Attorney's Office should be disqualified from prosecuting the case because an adult child of the man known as Prosecutor A was a student at Utah Valley University when Kirk was killed and attended the event. Prosecutor A testified that he disclosed that fact to the defense freely.
We felt confident that there's just simply no conflict here, and once people become aware of the facts, there's no appearance of conflict. Prosecutor A's daughter testified as well, but recording was not allowed.
She told the judge she'd planned to go a week prior to the event, that when the gunshot was heard, she rushed into a campus building before texting a family group chat about the shooting.
