Former special counsel Jack Smith just told a House hearing no one's above the law.
Rather than accept his defeat in the 2020 election, President Trump engaged in a criminal scheme to overturn the results.
The other indictment Smith defended charged the then former president for mishandling classified documents after leaving office.
And repeatedly tried to obstruct justice to conceal his continued retention of those documents.
But Republicans say this was all political. Three days after President Trump announces he's running for president, Attorney General Garland names Jack Smith special counsel. And committee chairman Republican June Jordan says Smith tried to get a gag order imposed. Jack Smith restricts the speech of the former president while he's a candidate for president.
Thank goodness Mr. Smith was slapped down on appeal. The Trump cases were dropped after the president was elected again in 2024. President Trump has left Davos, Switzerland after closing the World Economic Forum, creating a board of peace he'll be the chairman of.
