Chapter 1: What are the latest developments in the Iran conflict?
Talking isn't stopping bombing. I'm Dave Anthony, Fox News. As President Trump says the U.S. keeps trying to work out a deal to end the Iran conflict, Operation Epic Fury rages the 25th day.
Israel and the United States say the ability of Iran to fire offensive weapons is severely degraded. The IDF says they have struck now some 3,000 targets in Iran. That's in addition to U.S. strikes. They've hit command centers, weapons storage, aerial defense systems. Overnight, the IDF says airstrikes hit some 50 targets, including launchers for ballistic missiles. Fox News.
Mike Tobin in Tel Aviv, where there is fresh damage from more Iranian missile strikes. As oil prices rise back up today, 3 to 4 percent after yesterday's big drop. An American held hostage in Afghanistan since January of last year, set free today. Dennis Coyle now being flown to Texas.
Coyle had spent nearly two decades there conducting language research but was suddenly detained and placed into near solitary confinement. No charges were filed but Afghanistan's foreign ministry says the Supreme Court has... deemed the period of detention sufficient. His friends and allies said he was denied adequate medical care.
The State Department had officially declared Coyle wrongfully detained.
Fox's Jonathan Savage, a senator, will soon be a secretary. In a few hours, Mark Wayne Mullen will be sworn in to lead Homeland Security the day after the Senate confirmed him.
Mullen will take over the department five and a half weeks into a funding shutdown. He's left tens of thousands of federal agents working without pay and hours-long security lines at several major U.S. airports. Democrats are demanding reforms of immigration enforcement operations following fatal shootings in Minneapolis.
Fox's Jared Halbert of the White House says Mullen leaves the Senate. Oklahoma's governor has chosen his replacement, appointing a conservative, Alan Armstrong, keeping the seat Republican. Well, talks continue in the Senate. Trying to work out a compromise with Democrats to end that stalemate over DHS funding and get TSA agents paid again. America's listening to Fox News.

The White House says the president's fine with allowing it for people who, for example, have disabilities, military commitments or who are traveling on Election Day. President Trump won't be in Florida for the special election Tuesday. He could have voted early in person when he was there. He has said he's against early voting periods, too. There's a manhunt for two suspects in Washington, D.C. After a park police officer was shot last night, but his injuries are said to be not life-threatening.
The officer was reportedly working undercover, and according to the park police service, was ambushed. Investigators say the suspects approached the officer's vehicle and began shooting. The officer, who remains unidentified but is described as being a veteran cop, was able to drive away despite being shot in his upper body. Eben Brown, Fox News.
Turning to Wall Street, stocks are now mixed. The Dow is gaining 47 points, but the Nasdaq is down 108. I'm Dave Anthony, and this is Fox News.
