More than 1,700 people have now died in Venezuela's back-to-back earthquakes.
Five days after twin earthquakes devastated northern Venezuela, rescue crews are hard at work trying to find any survivors that may still be alive under the rubble. American crews from California, Florida, and Virginia are operating under the State Department's Disaster Assistance Response Team, which is also coordinating with the U.S. military. 130 Marines arrived in the hardest-hit city of La Guida. Their goal is to open the port so badly needed supplies can reach those who need it. One of them said there was no way of communicating with anyone until they reached a National Guard building where they could call relatives.
