Both the House and Senate will have member-wide briefings with Trump administration officials following the operation in Venezuela that led to the arrest of Nicolas Maduro and his wife. Sources tell Fox News the briefers will include Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and Attorney General Pam Bondi.
President Trump says one of the reasons Congress wasn't notified about the operation was because of concerns of possible leaks. The Senate plans to vote on a war powers resolution that would rein in the administration's ability to use military force without congressional approval. On Capitol Hill, Ryan Schmelz, Fox News.
Meanwhile, President Trump posting on Truth Social that the United States will receive 30 to 50 million barrels of oil from Venezuela. He says that the oil will be sold at market value to benefit the people of Venezuela and be managed by Energy Secretary Chris Wright. The White House is organizing a meeting on Friday with U.S. oil company executives to discuss the situation in Venezuela.
Well, the tensions are still running high in Venezuela and neighboring Colombia following the capture of Venezuela's president over the weekend.
