Chapter 1: What protests are happening in Minneapolis following the ice shooting?
More protests against the ice shooting of a Minneapolis mother. I'm Roger Stern, Fox News. More than a thousand demonstrations are planned in cities today nationwide following the shooting death of a woman by an ice agent in Minneapolis. Three Democratic lawmakers, including Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, showed up at the federal building there, an epicenter of the protests.
Congresswoman Omar and the other Congresswoman are at a base where federal immigration agents have been posted up over the past couple of weeks. And that's where all the protesters are gathering to protest against their presence here. So our Bill Malusian reports that Congresswoman Omar, along with other Democratic Congresswomen, basically showed up to that location and asked for entry.
But here in downtown Minneapolis, there was a massive crowd of protesters, even rioters, who gathered outside of a hotel. where they believe immigration agents are staying. Fox's Matt Finn, anti-ice protest also erupting in the Big Apple.
Chapter 2: What is Congresswoman Ilhan Omar's involvement in the protests?
Fox's C.B. Cotton in New York City with more. The White House has been very clear on its stance, calling the Minneapolis shooting a federal agent, acting in self-defense for the protesters who've gathered here today. They call it murder. They're out here chanting, waving anti-ice signs.
They want immigration enforcement to stop, and they say everyone is less safe with ICE agents here on the ground. They say their message is peaceful, but they started out the protest with chants of F ICE. Socialist groups appear to be behind all these ongoing protests across the nation and in the Big Apple.
And despite this message, you know, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem says the agency's work is making American streets safe. Vice President J.D.
Chapter 3: How does the White House justify the actions of federal agents in Minneapolis?
Vann says the shooting was self-defense, but Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Fry condemned the federal agent. America is listening to Fox News.
Several Democrats, including Representative Julie Johnson of Texas, says Congress should consider using Homeland Security funding as leverage to rein in DHS and ICE operations, even warning that a shutdown fight could be possible if Republicans refuse policy changes. She joined Fox News Live to answer whether she would shut the government down. If necessary, absolutely.
You know, I think Democrats, that is one of the tools of the toolbox. Obviously, my preference is to negotiate an agreement. Meanwhile, Democratic congressional leaders Chuck Schumer and Akeem Jeffries say they will not support calls to defund ICE. More than 65 Iranian demonstrators have been killed calling for the end of Iran's Islamic government.
And Fox's Stephanie Bennett tells us President Trump is threatening retaliation if the killings and woundings continue.
Chapter 4: What are the implications of the protests for ICE and DHS funding?
Protests continue throughout Iran as they call for the regime to end. Here's Fox's Stephanie Bennett. President Donald Trump had this warning. I've made the statement very strongly that if they start killing people like they have in the past, we will get involved. We'll be hitting them very hard where it hurts.
Chapter 5: How are international protests in Iran related to the situation in the U.S.?
Iran's supreme leader offered a stern message and has accused protesters of acting on behalf of President Trump. The Islamic Republic was established with the blood of several hundred thousand honorable people, and it will not back down in the face of those who engage in destruction, nor will it tolerate mercenaries serving foreign powers.
Now, back here in Europe, the leaders of France, Germany and the UK released a joint statement saying in part, quote, they are deeply concerned about reports of violence by Iranian security forces and strongly condemn the killing of protesters. The protest began with bizarre merchants angry over soaring inflation and the weakness of the local currency and have since spread to universities.
