A judge sentences a former New York City police sergeant to three to nine years in prison for tossing a full picnic cooler at a fleeing suspect, Eric Dupre. And then he crashed his motorized scooter and died. The jury convicted Eric Duran of manslaughter and 2023 death.

And the former sergeant said he was trying to protect the other officers from the approaching scooter. Dupre worked as a delivery driver and had three young children. And TMZ reports DJ Raffer, Africa Bambata, has died at 68. His real name was Lance Taylor, best known for some 80s hits and for being part of the Zulu Nation and for creating the genre called electro-funk.
