Prices rose in December at a modest three-tenths of a percent as measured by the Consumer Price Index. Excluding food and energy, the increase was two-tenths of a percent. For the year ending in December, the CPI was up 2.7 percent. 2.7 matches the November number and is tied for the lowest inflation measured by the CPI since May. CPI was up 2.6% on an annual basis, excluding food and energy.
