Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Only one day to go. I'm Carmen Roberts, Fox News. President Trump has given Iran until Monday night to open the Strait of Hormuz, or the U.S. will start bombing the country's power plants.
The tension is ramping up dramatically.
Chapter 2: What ultimatum has President Trump given to Iran regarding the Strait of Hormuz?
We're about halfway to the president's deadline for that ultimatum.
Fox's Mike Tobin in Tel Aviv with more on the president's truth social post last night.
The president wrote, if Iran doesn't fully open without threat, the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours from this exact point in time, the United States of America will hit and obliterate their various power plants, starting with the biggest one first. That was last night. Today, Iran's Speaker of Parliament responded immediately after that happens.
The critical infrastructure, energy infrastructure and oil facilities through the region will be considered legitimate targets and destroyed in an irreversible manner. An Iranian military spokesman said private sector targets are fair game as well as oil and energy infrastructure.
Iran says it will completely close the strait if the U.S. carries out strikes against its power plants. Meantime, the man President Trump wants to be Secretary of Homeland Security is a step closer to confirmation. The Senate held a test vote today on advancing that nomination.
The Sunday vote was procedural and only needed a simple majority to advance Oklahoma GOP Senator Mark Wayne Mullen's nomination.
When the votes were counted... The ayes are 54, the nays are 37, and the motion is agreed to.
This means a final vote on Senator Mullen's nomination will occur this week, possibly as early as mid to late Monday. Grinnell Scott, Fox News.
Today's show host Savannah Guthrie and her family are once again pleading with neighbors to search their minds for possible clues about the abduction of Nancy Guthrie. The 84-year-old was last seen on January 31st, and the family put out a statement today saying, we miss our mom with every breath, and we cannot be at peace until she is home. Chapter 3: How is the U.S. responding to Iran's threats regarding energy infrastructure?
Starting tomorrow, ICE agents will report to U.S. airports to help TSA agents. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz is affecting more than energy. Fox Business' Grady Trimble explains.
Prices for some types of fertilizer are up some 20 to more than 30 percent in the last few weeks. And that's because in addition to fuel, a large portion of the world's fertilizer comes from the Middle East. and is transported through the Strait of Hormuz, which remains effectively closed. Farmers are also paying a heck of a lot more for diesel.
The national average is up some 35% in the past few weeks. Farmers use diesel, of course, to power their equipment and to transport the grain they grow across the United States and even all over the world. The good news is the Trump administration says it's on top of these rising fertilizer costs.
And Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins says she plans to make an announcement to provide relief for farmers.
And a star from Buffy the Vampire Slayer dies at age 54. Nicholas Brendan, best known for his role as the lovable sidekick Xander Harris on the TV series. And his family says he died from natural causes but did not provide any details. I'm Carmen Roberts. This is Fox News.
