The man accused of planting pipe bombs outside the headquarters of both the Democratic and Republican National Committee headquarters ahead of the January 6th riot has entered a plea.
Brian Cole Jr. stood in a Washington, D.C. courtroom, and when the judge asked for a plea, Cole said not guilty. He's facing anywhere from five to 30 years in prison on charges of malicious attempt to use explosives and interstate transport of explosives. The bombs were rendered safe without detonating. Federal prosecutors say Cole admitted to the plot, telling investigators he wanted to punish both major political parties. Both the prosecution and Cole's lawyers have agreed to waive the Speedy Trial Act because after the FBI's five-year investigation, there are some 200 million data points of evidence they have to sort through. There were 50,000 new jobs created last month. Economists were predicting 60,000. The unemployment rate improved, declining to 4.4%. The forecast was for 4.5%. And there were revisions to recent reports. The November unemployment rate has been changed to 4.5%, not as weak as first reported. However, October and November job growth was revised down by 76,000. A huge black bear that made his home in the crawl space under a home in Los Angeles for more than a month has been evicted after trying to get help from state wildlife officials who used air horns and paintball guns that didn't work.
