The Secretary of Transportation has met with Maryland's governor to discuss the cost and timeline of reopening the Francis Scott Key Bridge, which was damaged last year after a ship lost power and slammed into a support pier.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and Maryland Governor Wes Moore released a joint statement pledging to speed up reconstruction of the Francis Scott Key Bridge as well as the American Legion Bridge, both critical in connecting Maryland to D.C. and Virginia. Late last year, the Maryland Transportation Authority said the Francis Scott Key Bridge would cost as much as $5.2 billion to rebuild, far more than the initial cost estimate, and that it couldn't be done before 2030, when the original goal was 2028. Duffy and Moore said they talked about cost-sharing for the Francis Scott Key Bridge, as well as a public-private partnership for the American Legion Bridge. Jessica Rosenthal, Fox News.
