Several lawmakers on both sides of the aisle had said they could no longer support funding for DHS and ICE as long as ICE continues to use what some are calling heavy-handed illegal tactics against migrants.

President Trump has been highly critical of Fed Chair Jerome Powell, believing that if the interest rates were lowered, it would spur the economy. Powell's term expires in May. Minnesota's attorney general says there's no new agreement with the federal government on jails reaching out to ICE.
In a briefing, Borders R. Tom Homan said he and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison reached a breakthrough when Ellison clarified that county jails may notify Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials in advance of criminal public safety risks being released so ICE can take them into custody.
But Allison says there is not a new deal with Homan, explaining in a statement, I did not make and could not have made any agreement with him about how sheriffs share with ICE information about people in their county jails. For the second weekend in a row, parts of the East Coast will get hit with a coastal storm.
Well, it doesn't happen very often, but two winter storms in a week in the deep south, that's what's going to happen from Charlotte all the way down through Atlanta. Winter storm watches for those big cities, probably turning into winter storm warnings overnight tonight for Charlotte and the rest of the Piedmont.
That snow is going to start on Friday evening and then carry over through Saturday where it picks up in intensity. Some of these snowfall areas, you can see as much as 6%. to 12 inches outside of Charlotte up across the mountains and swinging down around across a low country, South Carolina, even around Charleston. Could see a few inches of snow.
That's going to be ending out on Sunday when the coldest air of the season rockets in with extreme cold temperatures. In Charlotte, North Carolina, Bob Van Dylen, Fox Weather.
A former Illinois deputy sentenced to 20 years in prison for fatally shooting Sonia Massey, a black woman who dialed 911 to report an intruder. Sean Grayson, who was white, was convicted of second-degree murder in October. Federal regulators investigating after a Waymo robo-taxi hit a child in California.
It happened last Friday near an elementary school in Santa Monica during morning drop-off hours. Waymo tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration a child ran into the street from behind a double-parked SUV, was hit by the robo-taxi, got up and walked to the sidewalk with minor injuries.
The company says the car detected the child immediately and braked from 17 miles an hour to under 6 before impact. It says its computer modeling showed even a fully attentive human driver would have hit the child at 14 miles an hour. The NHTCA says it will investigate whether the robo-taxi exercised appropriate caution in a school zone.
