Chapter 1: What recent military developments are happening in the Middle East?
He says we're getting ready to wind things down, but more troops are on the way. I'm Lisa Lucera, Fox News. President Trump posting on Truth Social, the U.S. is close to meeting its objectives in Iran, including degrading Iran's missile capability. But more U.S. Marines are preparing to head to the Middle East.
And the president continues to pressure our partners to help reopen the critical Strait of Hormuz.
Ensuring tankers can sail through the narrow strait is a simple military operation, the president says, but concedes it does require a lot of ships. And NATO could help us, but they so far haven't had the courage to do so. And others could help us. President Trump says China and Japan import most of their oil through the Strait of Hormuz. It would be nice if those countries would get involved.
A Pentagon spokesman is pushing back on an intelligence report that suggests Iran could close the strait for up to six months, saying one assessment does not mean it's possible.
White House, three weeks into the strikes, Iran's top military spokesman is warning that parks, recreational areas, and tourist destinations worldwide will not be safe for this country's enemies. One of the nation's biggest cities says they are owed big money from the Department of Transportation.
A new lawsuit claims the White House has withheld some $3.1 billion in funding for rail projects in the Windy City. The Chicago Transit Authority says they need that money to pay its contractors and vendors. A similar lawsuit was also filed this week by the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority. They say the government is withholding almost $60 million.
