Chapter 1: What does the latest jobs report reveal about hiring trends?
This is a Fox News alert. More firing than hiring last month. I'm Dave Anthony. We just got that in the jobs report this morning.
We have a negative number for February non-farm payrolls, a loss of 92,000 jobs.
After 126,000 jobs were created in January, hiring also revised down by 65,000 jobs in December. Fox Business Network's Cheryl Cassoni also reports.
We are also seeing the unemployment rate tick up to 4.4 percent.
Chapter 2: How are rising fuel costs impacting the economy?
In another report, there was less shopping last month, a slight 0.2 percent decline in retail sales, and a big stock market sell-off is looming as the Iran conflict keeps driving up fuel costs as well. Oil, up to 86 bucks a barrel. A week ago, it was 65. And the price of the gas pump has surged up 33 cents in four days. Energy Secretary Chris Wright tells Fox. This should be temporary as the U.S.
works to secure fuel shipping lanes.
First, we've got to get their ability to cause trouble way down. And then as soon as it's reasonable to do it, we'll escort ships through the straits and get the energy moving again.
