What are some areas, ideas, spaces within the niches within this industry?
Lucy Banks 0:18
Especially in twenty twenty five, it's not enough just to be a cute girl, make the decision to start an OnlyFans. It is I don't wanna say it's oversaturated, but there's certainly more competition.
Abhinav Sinha 0:30
So what are the biggest challenges that you face just working in this space and working with people in this space?
Lucy Banks 0:35
Only about 30% of applications are accepted. They are extremely strict on verification.
Abhinav Sinha 0:42

Abhinav Sinha 0:48
Hey guys, welcome back to Funds and Founders. We have Lucy on today. Lucy's been in the corporate world, uh ventured into OnlyFans and the creator space, and now started her own marketing and PR agency to help other OnlyFans creators. Welcome to the show.
Lucy Banks 1:03
Thanks for having me. It's good to be here.
Abhinav Sinha 1:06
Wanted to start off with something a little controversial. What's the one thing that people underestimate about the OnlyFans economy? And if you had to like highlight one or two things about just that space, that that portion of the creator space, what would you say people very grossly misunderstand?
Lucy Banks 1:22
I think there's a huge misconception that all you need to be successful on OnlyFans is to be a hot girl. And if you're pretty or you've got, you know, big boobs or you've already got an existing audience, that that is going to automatically equate to being successful on OnlyFans. And it it's just not the case, especially in twenty twenty five. It's not enough just to be a cute girl, make the decision to start an OnlyFans. It is I don't wanna say it's oversaturated, but there's certainly more competition than there was back in twenty nineteen. So what used to work back then does not work anymore because people people are more aware, they know that they're being sold to, they know that this girl's just trying to pr promote her website.
Lucy Banks 2:07
To start an early fans in in this day and age, you do need a plan, you do need strategy. The the most success we're s we're seeing is those creators who are really niching down and they're like, Okay, I'm going to be known for for this area. Um and they've got the the the planning and the strategy behind it. It's not just something they're doing as a hobby, uh just posting bikini pics just y just because. Unless you have an existing audience, like you're on reality T V or you're a celebrity, it's not enough just to be hot anymore. You need to come at it with with a business mindset and strategy.

We were talking chatting the other day and you mentioned an interesting stat. I think last year or maybe the year before, OnlyFans reported six billion in revenue and top line revenue. But I think you were telling me the average creator makes X. What was the monthly income for an average creator on OnlyFans?
Lucy Banks 2:58
Yeah, so the average income is three hundred dollars a month on OnlyFans. Ninety nine percent of people that Sign up. So let me go back a little bit. If you want to join OnlyFans as a creator, only about thirty percent of applications are accepted. They are extremely strict on verification. Which is a very good thing. You don't want people trying to get in underage or set up fake profiles. They won't let AI models on or anything. So the verification um rules are a good thing. However, they they even exclude just normal people trying to get on. Um I know girls who have had to take off their fake eyelashes and have them removed so they can verify with their ID. It's very hard to get on in the first place. If you manage to get verified and get onto the website, only you know a very, very small percentage.
Lucy Banks 3:44
I would say yeah, the top one percent of people are going to be making enough to do it full time. Ninety nine percent of people either give up before it's successful or they're not Executing it right.
Abhinav Sinha 3:55
Before we dive into the rest of the episode, I have this joke where retention on YouTube is like three minutes.
