Based on research, Brene Brown writes, We can define humiliation as the intensity, the intensely painful feeling that we have been unjustly degraded, ridiculed, or put down, and that our identity has been demeaned or devalued. The one time I felt like I was special was when I was voted captain my senior year, not because I was good. of my talent, but because of my ability to ring people up, the ringleader, the cheerleader, only to the extent of, we got this, let's do this, I support you. So after that, what manifested as I grew through my collegiate career, after 12 years of spending time sitting in a seat, listening to other people talk and writing some papers.I walked across the stage as the Dean said to me, congratulations, Dr. Cobb. And I looked over my shoulder and I realized that she was talking to me. And for about 15 seconds, as I continued to walk across the stage, I was on a high like euphoria I'd never known. And I thought, oh my gosh, I did that. This is it."
