Chapter 1: What themes are explored in chapters 59-63 of 'This Inevitable Ruin'?
A bird's burden, building a nest, celestial loots and achievements, and killing some prisoners. Hello, crawlers, and welcome! Welcome! Episode 50.
Oh, it's an extravaganza.
It's a big deal.
How am I still here 50 episodes later?
We really tricked you. Yeah, this is going to be like 14 tops. Yeah, I don't feel bad at all for it.
Okay.
It's been a delight getting to talk about this book with you, even though we did trick you.
Yeah. It has been fun, though, guys.
Yeah.

Chapter 2: How does Justice Light interact with the Slugalos?
Yeah. I would just make like general topics that I thought we could talk about in like how they introduce characters. What do we think of that? Yeah. That's about it. But when we go back and do a full spoiler version. Ooh. it's going to be dense.
Hey, has this come up? I know it has that when we hit the point where there's no current book and we're, we finished that, we go back to the first book.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We talked about maybe doing that or whatever we can do to milk every dollar out of you.
Martin is starting to realize what level of Dante's in. And then we're going to do it again and again and again.
I feel like the crawlers, like once the crawl is over, I'm still going to be stuck here.
Oh, man, you're going to be indentured for like 50 seasons.
So we have a few notes right up top. First off, we started getting some messages and responses from people about Book 8 and about some stuff that's kind of spoilery for Book 8, which led me to need to notify y'all that... Martin and I haven't read it and we're trying to avoid knowing anything about it so we can go into it fresh. So if you can, don't spoil it for us.

Chapter 3: What dilemmas does Carl face regarding leadership and sacrifice?
Was I pussyfooting? Yeah. Which brings me to my next point. Is a tiara a hat? Ooh.
I don't think so.
Because we can put up a poll on this. Is a tiara a hat? Yeah, I don't think it counts as a hat. So here's what happened.
It's a headdress.
I had a whole other outfit on. I was walking out the door. And my wife and two daughters were like, it's your 50th episode and you're going to go wearing that? And I was like, well, what should I wear? And they ran and grabbed this and said, please wear this. And I was like, no, I'm not going to wear that. I don't think that's even a hat. They're like, it's a hat. And then...
After the begging, I said, fine. And then they said, oh, but you also got to change your outfit, put like something more colorful on. I was like, okay, fine. So I'm wearing a tiara, but I'm not sure it's a hat. No. It also has this.
Ooh. Tiara doesn't even cover your head.
Right?
It just goes around it.

Chapter 4: How do the characters react to the concept of trust and betrayal?
There's no sun protection with this thing. It's more like an ornamental flourish. Would Donut consider it a hat?
Yes. Yeah.
She's a cat. Yeah.
What does she know? Okay. Going by Donut's perspective, it would count. Cat watch! Yeah, hat watch. I mean, the reason she's in all this trouble is because anything that looks like a hat or a crown or a tiara, she snatches up and puts on her head.
Now, meanwhile, do you have a pot of gold for us?
I hope you answer that correctly because if you don't, because he's wearing that tiara, he's going to have to kill you. Please answer me in a riddle.
Is it a backwards riddle? It's raining pretty hard, so if you see a rainbow, just look out for it. Coincidentally, my wife did buy this hat while she was in Dublin.
Yeah. Yeah, she did.
I mean, it turns out they only sell green hats there.

Chapter 5: What role do celestial items play in the plot?
No, no inside. Oh, okay. The first thing's another hat for Ruby. Color me surprised.
Is this... Is this from the same person?
I think so. It's gotta be.
There's no note. Yeah. And then... Oh, for our 50th. We all got little 50th hats.
Well, I mean, I suppose we should wear them for this episode.
Oh, man.
At least for a photo.
This is amazing. I mean, I think we all had a little bit of concern that we were being mean about a really heartfelt, thought-out hat. But once I said that, I'm like, oh, they're in on the joke.
We're good to make fun of this. I'm fucking in. I'm 150% in now.

Chapter 6: How does the AI influence the characters' decisions?
We got a couple of emails and messages. First off, we got one from Mert, who this email came in, and I actually passed it along to you guys to read as well. And I thought it was just kind of interesting. They had a long thing about talking about Carl's superpower being a Kobayashi Maru, which I thought was an interesting perspective on it.
The idea that when presented with an impossible scenario, rather than accepting defeat, which was the intent of Kobayashi Maru, that a leader must know defeat and be able to accept it, you Captain Kirk that thing, and you pivot, and you throw a curveball. I think in his case, in the later movies, they showed that he just straight-up cheated the system. Oh, yeah, yeah.
Which is how you're supposed to handle something.
Yeah, just cheat.
Mm-hmm.
So, yeah, I thought that was interesting. They also talked about a little bit of a philosophical commentary on Carl's morality in dire conditions and that maybe we've been a little too hard on Carl. And, you know, that in these crazy conditions, the end justifies the means when you're just desperate.
Well, you know, something that email brought up, because I've always been thinking about this. It's like, you know, we'll be judgmental about Carl as he loses himself and he's hard on himself about it, but they're in an extraordinary situation. And that email brought up the fact that us being
pampered americans privileged americans which we are yeah i mean if you grow up in this country no matter even if you're a visible minority you go like well i'm not privileged like those guys it's like yeah but but you are you don't most people grow up with some kind of privilege they don't even notice it i'm not privileged oh yeah you say a visible minority what am i now well you're you're yeah you're visible
It's super visible. I have no idea how I'm supposed to hide from ice now. You need to hide in like a highlighter factory or something. But I look like an important sentence.

Chapter 7: What is the significance of the Great Consensus in the story?
The people around him are questioning him. And therefore it makes us have to examine when do they go too far? When are they scaring those around us? When are they losing themselves? There is a conflict at play. And I think it's fair to examine that despite.
Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. I'm not putting it on us. You know, it's just an interesting way of thinking about things. But always with Carl and the rest of our crawlers, you know, the Earth crawlers, they seem to have in the back of their minds that they're going to come through this thing and go back to the way it was. And we know very well that there is no way it was that's gone. That's gone.
It's all about forging the new reality. And there's something that Carl does in this book where I'm like, I feel like maybe you're not thinking ahead, but I haven't read ahead to know, but we'll get to it when we get there. True.
We got a few comments as well. First one comes from Belgor. That's with two R's. Is he a crawler also? Says, I have an idea, gents. Episode 50 should be live and y'all should allow for an audience. Just saying. Guess what, buddy?
No, no. I reject that idea. Let's not do that.
If you're a patron, we did it. We're live streaming this bad boy right now. And they're seeing all of our sloppy errors.

Chapter 8: How do the characters prepare for the upcoming battle?
All of my sloppy errors. Pretty much.
They're also seeing this sloppy hat before anybody else.
Which means patreon.com slash hellocrawlings. There you can make your per month pledge and you can join us.
That hat is just reflecting so much yellow.
If you need to fucking take it off with like some kind of green screen or neon yellow screen, I'm pretty sure it'll be easy.
That's so reflective. It's reflecting your shame on all of us. The Mark 5 says, every podcast needs one guy with consistently bad takes. And I'm sorry, Grant. You're that guy for Hello Crawlers. He knows already.
He fucking knows.
Oh, it took 50 episodes for you to figure it out.
Nice. Ding. Oh.
