Although despite today's show having a fairly distinct World Cup hue, it's not all positive. Unfortunately, Ireland's dreams of automatic qualification to the Women's World Cup next summer were dashed in Grenoble last night following a 1-0 defeat to France.

It didn't really happen that way, although I'll be lacking a great chance with about 10 minutes to go or so. If that goes in all of a sudden, the complexion is very, very different. How do you reflect on that sign?
Yeah, I think that chance and the Patton chance were the two you're thinking if that goes in, the game completely turns on its head. And I think there was just such hype from the Netherlands game. Like when I think of that game now, even the vibes are just 10-10 because... Like, obviously, there was such rain.
How did the team perform despite the loss?
It was absolute chaos. 3-2 win in the end. But, you know, it was touch and go there for a while. And that one in particular just kind of reminded you of the feeling and like how close they actually were. Because I think we talked about this with Maeve as well. But there was a real expectation shift after that, that, wow, they can actually do it. And they've been there before. And who's to say they can't go and do it again? So I think coming into the France game, I kind of thought they'd attack the game a bit more. I know, obviously, you know, you want to stay in it, but there was all this chat and the build up. They have nothing to lose and they didn't have anything to lose. So I don't know why they didn't maybe jump at it a bit more, especially later on in the game when, you know, if you're 1-0 down, you might as well lose.
2-0 if you're going to leave yourself open and give yourself the chance of coming back 1-1 or even going on to win it.
Yeah, we're very used to watching Ireland teams operating with a back five now. It's just the default setting for every Ireland watching experience.
