Hello, good morning, good day, good afternoon. Jessie Pierce, Kirsten Kroll here. Kirsten, I want to start things off with a... Remember last week when we said that Kirill Kaprizov was struggling? Maybe he wasn't a superstar. He needs to score more. All of that stuff. We did say that, right? We said it.
We did. And I will always hold myself accountable for the comments that I do. Exactly.
We are holding ourselves accountable. So I want to kick it off with this clip from Mr. Kirill Kaprizov post-game Saturday night.
Oh, you tell me I don't score goals. I try not to think about it, but it's always sometimes in your head. But it's nice to win tonight. Score, yeah? Yeah.
For those that maybe couldn't understand through the heavy Russian accent, Kirill Kaprizov said, you tell me I don't score goals, so I score tonight. And he did indeed score in that victory on Saturday night. Kirill actually does. And we've always given him his flower still. He hasn't been bad necessarily in the scoreless streak. But he does have a multi-point game in five consecutive games.

Chapter 2: How has Kirill Kaprizov improved his performance recently?
No. Here is my thing on the outdoor Iowa Wild Classic thing. I'm so happy I did it. So thankful to be a part of it because it was so cool. Yeah. I'm happy it's done because I don't think I truly like thought out until two days later. So like yesterday morning when I woke up because I got home late Friday night from it, like just freezing at one point, like I couldn't feel my toes. Yeah.
So then I went into the heated tent. Shout out to Hastings for doing such a great job. Also. They have it every year at Hockey Day, just some heated tents. But this year, I was especially grateful. But just the contrast of going from extreme cold to not extreme heat, but heat. Just the contrast. My toes that were already frozen just hurt so bad once they did start to warm up.
So, yeah, that's my thought on that. I was going to say something else and I lost it. But yes, I'm very thankful that I was a part of it. I'm just, you know, kind of happy that I'm indoors now and that is behind me. But I can say I was a part of it. Another thing. Sorry, I cut you off. It was so cold. I was nervous.
People were going to think I was drunk when I was like talking on the mic because my face was frozen. My mouth was not moving as fast as it normally does because it was so cold. So I feel like I sounded like I was slurring my words. No, I'm like, no, it was just so cold.
Yeah.
maybe a little no well we no we had some apple cider not spiked just regular apple cider um no i no i don't think i sounded the best because i was like it was just so cold like i'm not made to be talking in this weather i know flow hockey and our friend chris our friend chris peters had helped do a lot of that broadcasting did they keep a lot of like were your
in-game situation similar to what they would be during a normal game or like, how did they navigate kind of that? Cause I know like it was hard even from a broadcasting standpoint, I think it like timed out because it was just so cold. They couldn't even. Broadcast the entirety of the game. I mean, were there those types of hurdles that you guys had to deal with too?
Yeah, there were like, we had to scrap a couple of things because flow hockey's camera signal went out. They were without signal for like 20 minutes. And then the fan dual broadcast. They went through like three generators. So they also lost signal for a period of time because it was so cold.
So there was some hosting hits that I had that we just had to scrap because we physically didn't have a camera or anything to do them. Like the video board itself went out at a couple of times. Yeah. Yeah. So everything was very similar. I would say the only thing that we really did more of was like stuff with the mascots. But otherwise, everything was pretty on par.

Chapter 3: What are the implications of the upcoming Olympic break for the players?
To add insult to injury, there was five hockey games this week that I worked. Four straight. Four in a row went to overtime. The Wild, the Frost, and then the Iowa Wild went to overtime, followed by the Minnesota Wild once again. Four out of the five games that I worked, back to back to back to back, all went to overtime. I think overtime is my enemy. Maybe you're the problem.
don't think it's me i think it's probably you i don't think so i just let's just keep a lead let's get this overtime thing out of the way from a writer's standpoint and somebody who has to file at the buzzer so i can get my butt down to the locker rooms before they open especially when teams are on uh back to back like the panthers were the other night and i'm always terrified i'm gonna miss somebody like i'm like i'm not gonna get into the room like i had to get brad marchand right because he scored the winner he's returned from injury blah blah blah
So I'm just, I'm on edge and I've got two stories written. I've realized though, I prefer having a shootout in those situations from a file at deadline or file at the buzzer standpoint, because I don't necessarily need to have the game winning goal description in there too. Right. Which is easy, but it's also not because I literally have to be like, okay, what happened? What time?
Because those guys leave the ice immediately. Right. And then the rooms can open as quickly as they're out there. So I'm just like, it's, it's a lot of,
pressure for me and making sure the correct and then i'm always fearful that i'm gonna send in the wrong story like i'm gonna send in the wild one and they didn't win it's because each of it's a very different writing but i would agree i don't care that's a little that's a little behind the scenes of what goes on behind the written story everybody
Me, I can leave immediately after the game. So when my when my time to go home and see my dog after, you know, an exciting game, like once, you know, you get through, I think part of it's like you expect it to end in three periods. And so then especially when it's an 840 p.m. puck drop and they decide we're taking this to extra time and it's already midnight.
Of course, boys, every single time there's a late game overtime.
didn't even make it to the skyway either thursday or saturday night because they closed the skyway at midnight so it was negative degrees and we have to walk up us gals i walked out with sarah mcclellan of the star tribune and heather rule because we were all like let's stick together because it's freezing and we don't have the skyway lighting this up but um yeah i wanted to bring that up the last thing i want to bring up before we get into some cues you guys because again tons of great questions still to get to
Got to give another shout out to Quinn Hughes. Quinn Hughes plays for the Minnesota Wild, and I am so freaking happy that he does because he's even better than I think any of us anticipated. And I could say this every week. I probably will. I will say Quinn Hughes is the best thing to ever happen to the Minnesota Wild. Probably even better than Kirill Kaprizov.

Like, there's so much excitement. I mean, even me, I was talking ā with Kachuk about Team USA stuff, right? Like, I wasn't talking... And he had a game that night. It was game day, so I felt weird, but he was like, no, it's getting really exciting. He's like, of course, our focus is on our team. So I have to imagine Boldy and Faber and even Gus and Velstad and Eck, like...
It's going to be interesting to get through these next few games because you are looking forward to getting with your countrymen and your teammates, right? And you're looking forward to the Olympics. There's been just this hype surrounding it since teams started getting announced and named even back in the summer. How do you think they navigate that?
Like, how important is it going to be for them to navigate it? Because points are still at a premium right now.
For sure. I mean, I know for me... like when I'm excited about something, it's really hard to like focus on like the days ahead of you. So I think it's just kind of that mental challenge right now, like still staying focused like day at a time, like what you have on your plate today. But it would be really hard for me to not, my mind would wander and I'd be like,
okay, but this, this is going to be so fun and exciting and I can't wait. Especially too, when you bring in the aspect, like especially these European players, like getting back overseas and just being with their group or even being back in Europe, which they haven't been since the off season. So there's that added layer being closer to like their families. So just a lot of excitement.
It would be very hard for me to be like, We have a game today. I need to focus on this. But I'm going to Italy for two weeks. Exactly. Like, what am I going to pack for Italy? That would be me.
Yeah, your concerns and my concerns are probably slightly different than what their worries are. I'd be like, oh, we need to get out of here. I've talked to a number of players
recently about their concerns with the facilities if there are any not one single player is worried about it and i truly believe i'm like they've i've been told ah so what we've we're we've been lucky enough to have the best of the best facilities here in the nhl so if we have to go back to like our roots and play in you know a less than ideal situation or you know in i from what i'm told right now they might have to be getting ready outside of the locker rooms because there's
not enough they don't seem to care like they're just very excited which i i get it's interesting right but here's a locker room aspect locker rooms are in tough shape locker rooms they might have to do and i this i've only seen it during covid in fact when they had to have like separations where players literally changed outside of the dressing rooms and then like kind of went in
