Why did the jury rule the case on a statute‑of‑limitations technicality?
It's hard not to see this just coming down to a technicality that he didn't file it in time.
That's right. The jury did not at all rule on the merits of the claims that Elon Musk brought in this lawsuit. They strictly ruled on the statute of limitations and said that any alleged harm happened before the date set by the law. And so therefore his lawsuit can't proceed.
So does that mean that he can bring all of this back to ge back again?
I don't think so. He's going to be able to appeal the decision from the jury and try to have it hurt on appeal and and hurt again, but it does not mean that he can try again. It basically the the claims that he filed against OpenAI have been dismissed.
And the judge r uh actually agreed with the jury, even though it was an advisory jury. So if the judge agrees as well, doesn't it make it more difficult to bring an appeal?
It there definitely are complications and especially since it was a ruling on s on a technicality, as you said, and not really about a legal interpretation of the law.

So I think there's gonna be a lot of hurdles. I know Musk's lawyer addressed reporters after the trial and didn't offer any specifics about how he planned to pursue the appeal and on what kind of legal reasoning he would be pursuing it. So a lot remains to be seen there.
What would be the implications of what happened today for the future of AI industry? Is it just that both sides just keep plowing along, um, you know, a individually as they have been?
That is the question. And I think at this point, it's fair to say that the feud between Musk and Altman is far from over. These specific claims may have been dismissed, but as I said, there's an appeal. And also Musk has at least three other active legal challenges going against OpenAI that he's still pursuing on other allegations. So this is far from the final word. It was definitely a separate issue. And you know, that was something that was relevant in this trial is that Elon Musk has so many different business ventures that he's juggling all of the time. And kind of this AI pursuit is just part of it. Of course, you're right, it's under SpaceX now. As far as I know, this hasn't delayed anything. I don't have any special insights into those kind of calculations that folks are thinking about behind the scenes. Um, but certainly I

I think we can expect some activity from kind of both sides of this case as far as looking towards a public offering.
