What is the overall schedule and structure of the upcoming NHL matchup?
What's up everybody? Welcome to the video. Welcome to another episode of Villa's Match or Maximize our podcast presented by Keeping Carlson, where I, Ela Dubrowski, take a look at the next fantasy matchup. Try to figure out who we should be targeting from teams that have good schedules to try to give us the best chance of winning our head-to-head matchups. Notice that I said the next fantasy matchup and not next week, because this next matchup over on Yahoo is bonkers, because it's going Monday to Thursday next week. Then there's no high Hockey for a while because the Olympics. Then it's coming back February twenty-fifth, which is a Wednesday, where there's games all the way through to Sunday, March first.
So it is a matchup of nine days of games, Monday to Thursday, that's four, and then five days Wednesday to Sunday on the back half. So it's a longer schedule, and this is gonna make it obviously very Very tricky, especially because in the Olympics there might be injuries. Like who knows what's gonna happen. So I think my first piece of advice because on Yahoo, at least in the Keeping Carlson Ultimature Fantasy League, we have four ads per matchup. That's per matchup, not per week. So you're only gonna have four ads available for this entire stretch. It's gonna be tempting. You're gonna see some guy on like Team Germany, I don't know, do get a hatchery and be like, Oh, I should have that guy. And you know
You you have to be careful. You can use up those ads very quickly. Uh you and you're gonna wanna save them, especially like I said, because those injuries. Before you know it, you may have like imagine you use like two or three ads right on Monday morning, like some of us like to do. Next thing you know, you get a bunch of injuries in the Olympics, and you can't even fill those roster spots now. So I think you have to be very careful and very judicious with how you make use of those four ads. So I'm gonna like giving you be giving you some suggestions, but I'm I'd almost recommend listen to the episode. Enjoy the chatter. Learn a little bit about who's hot on the teams with good schedules. But be careful.
Don't blow all your ads. Especially if you're dropping some. I mean, if you have an open spot, use the ad. Why not? You're not costing anything. But I'd be very careful about dropping players because you may need them for injury replacement. So that's my buyer beware caveat here. As far as who we're targeting, I mean there's also a lot of strategy. That goes into that, right? Like maybe we should just be focusing on team so for that Monday to Thursday next week before the break, there are six teams that play three times. And then a bunch of teams that play two times. Almost everyone plays two times. And then there's three teams that play only one time. So those are Anaheim, Boston, and the Rangers. So those are teams where maybe if you are going to drop someone, you're looking to drop someone from those teams because they're not going to give you any games for a long time aside from just one.
One and you maybe want to target these teams that play three times, but of course, it's uh some of it kind of balances out. Anaheim plays one time, like I said, on next Tuesday. Then in that final stretch of five games, there's a bunch of teams that play either three times or two times. Those are the only two options. Anaheim's one of the threes. So and they're on off days. So maybe it's worth it to hold your Anaheim person for that second half of the matchup. So there's a lot of thinking that goes into it. I'll try to break this all down. I feel like it would be too much for me to just go through every single team and tell you their schedule, but really I feel like this is gonna be one of those situations where you're gonna wanna first of all look at your team, think of who you're considering dropping, take a look at their schedule over both next week and then the back half of the matchup, see how many games you're giving up.
Figure out the off day schedules, see if like just make get a really good sense of it.
