What's up, everybody? Welcome to another episode of Elon's Match and Maximizer, a podcast presented by Keeping Carlson. We're I, Elon Dubrovsky, take a look at next week's NHL schedule. Try to figure out which teams we should be targeting in order to maximize our chances of winning our head-to-head matchups. We're going for quantity here. We want as many games played as possible to overwhelm our opponents potentially in a playoff matchup. That's right, we're looking at the week of March 16th to March 22nd for the Keepen Carlson Ultimate Patriot Fantasy League of. Probably a lot of other leagues. This is the quarterfinals. This is a big week. And we've got a week. Okay, this schedule next week, very different from what we just experienced, and very different than what we're going to be seeing the following week, where it was busy like Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and hardly any teams playing on off days.
Next week, half the league plays four times, and the busiest days are Thursday and Saturday with only 22 teams playing, which means if you set your rosters, you may even be able to fit a streamer on either of those days, which would mean that you can fit any player that you want, right? In your roster on pretty much any day. So you have the pick of the litter. You this is a week where the strategy is going to be you look at your available free agents. Maybe you want to filter based on players playing four times. Though honestly, if you find a player playing three times, but you know, by Saturday, like you look at Detroit, they go Monday, Thursday, Saturday. Not a great schedule. But if you can fit the Thursday, Saturday, then you could always swap for a Sunday person.
So it's not that different necessarily than adding a player who plays four times. Vegas goes Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday. So sure you get the extra game, but if you save your move, you can use that Sunday move to, you know, drop your What's he gonna say? Detroit person and pick up a Vegas person then. And then you end up the same. Of course, so your moves are scarce. Uh so yeah, but really you've got to be looking at your free agency at this point and just seeing like who are the players who I think are gonna just have a big impact for me. And that's not something I can really like help you with too too much. Like I don't know who's available in your free agency at this point of the season, where we're near the end of the NHL season, I'd be looking at like last 14 days average points per game.
I guess there's like two ways to look at it. Like who's hot lately? Sort your free agents by last fourteen or seven days, average points per game, get a sense of like who's been hot. Then maybe also sort by percent rostered, or you could use our cuckoo tool that Kevin built for the cuckoo percent rostered, which is super handy, and just kind of get a sense of like who are the highest end players. Cause some of them might be guys on cold streaks, but in great situations, just happen to be cold and that's why they were dropped. And now's a great opportunity to jump on. on someone who we expect should be able to pick it up before long. Like let's say Nikolai Ehlers got dropped in your league. Like yeah, he hasn't been so incredible lately, only two assists in his last four games, but I'd probably take a Nikolai Ehlers over most streamers, especially because Kyro Lina actually has a good schedule next week.
So those are the all the things I'd look at. And then yeah, as far as making the final decision, that's up to you. It's very hard to predict a single week or two. And right now if you're in an elimination week, it's just Like I said, half the teams are playing four times. There are three teams that play four times and avoid the Thursday, Saturday, which are the busy days. Tuesday is a moderate day, 18 teams playing. Gotta imagine most people will be able to fit in someone on a Tuesday. So yeah, we have four teams, like I said, four times that avo or three teams that play four times avoiding Thursday, Saturday. Those are the Calgary Flames, Carolina Hurricanes, and the Colorado Avalanche.
