I'm your host, Jeremy Versillo, and joining me tonight for the first time on a show with me, my pal and yours, Nick. Nick, it's wonderful to meet you. We've had a great discussion getting ready for this show. Uh I hope you're just as excited as I am to do this show with me.
Yeah, it's uh great to meet you and uh I'm excited for this uh big night of hockey that we got. So let's uh get into the news. How about that?
Well, before talking about a big night of hockey, let's talk about someone who is not playing hockey right now. That would be our Temi Panarin. What do you got news there for me?
Yeah, so the New York Rangers have committed to holding our Temi Panarin out of their lineup until the February fourth Olympic roster freeze. And on SportsNet five ninety the fans morning show, uh Elliott Friedman confirmed that the Star Winger was prioritizing an extension as part of a possible trade out of the Big Apple. So Panarin would reportedly like to join the back to back Stanley Cup champions down in front. Florida. But their cap might make that a bit tricky. So some other destinations that have been floated include San Jose, uh Los Angeles, and Detroit. But everything is still up in the air for now. And in the meantime, uh Alexei Lafranier has joined the Rangers top power play unit, but hasn't really been able to cash in just yet.
Uh the Rangers have a good fantasy playoff schedule, and while he is ninety-six percent owned in Kakupfull, which is the keeping Carlson Ultimate Patron Fantasy League, he's only about 17% rostered in Yahoo! Leagues overall. Uh he's due for a an uptick in value, possibly even. Even more so when Adam Fox rejoins the team from the injury reserve list. This could be a chance to sell for decent value based on future upside or possibly to buy low if you think he has the potential to finally go off with the Rangers top unit.
I'm definitely buying low on Alexis Lafreniere. I think he's a good player and I think he's gonna get more opportunity here. One thing to keep in mind is his name has also been in some trade rumors, more the speculative online keyboard warrior kind of trade rumors, not anything super credible. But he could be on the move also if the Rangers really decide to bottom out. I also think that this is kind of a big downside for Panarin. There's a chance he goes somewhere that deploys him as a second liner instead of a first liner. He's already, you know, losing that great New York Rangers playoff schedule. I don't think you can really sell on him because everybody knows what's going on here. Just something to keep in mind going forward.
Next up we've got with Brian Rust's three game suspension, some new Pittsburgh Penguin lines. Justin Brazot has jumped up to line one with Crosby and Raquel. Unfortunately, he's on power play two still, and Igor Chinikov is playing second line and first power play. I think I'm most interested in Chinikov here of the of the two, but also the Penguins are playing today is the first game of Rust suspension. Saturday's super busy is the second game, and then Monday would be the third game. It might not even be worth adding either of these guys. Do you think you'd be interested in either Nick?
Yeah, I like uh Chinikov a bit more than Brazot here. Uh the Penguins second line seems to be driving play well together, and I would assume Brazot probably goes back to his regular deployment uh after Rust returns from suspension. Um I think I'd rather have the offensive upside of the power play one deployment with Crosby for a player known more as an offensive threat than Rezo having a bit of a career year at this point.
I think the Penguins power play has been pretty good this year, if I remember correctly. So that's another plus in Chinikov's column. Next up there's a day to day injury to Dylan Gentler in Utah. What can you tell me about that?
