What records and historic lifts are being discussed at the start of the episode?
Everything everything goes up. So you y you gotta keep up and the fact that she has managed to to do that for
Eight, nine years now? 'Cause she's we're talking about Joey Namani. Joey Namani won twenty eighteen as a fifty-two eighteen two thousand nineteen as a fifty-two eight years. Came came back twenty twenty-one as a fifty-seven, twenty twenty-two as a fifty-seven, hadn't won since then, and then we're just saying how to keep up with the progression and then come back and win in twenty twenty-six is a fifty-seven. It's tough. It's a tough crazy. Yeah. 'Cause we got people like you who emerge out of nowhere and it's like Same with the sixteen year old Justin Wynne, fifty nine. He unofficially breaks the world record and it's like, Well, I'm here now, I'm sorry. That was fifteen years you guys were waiting for this record to fall.
I'm sixteen.
Fifteen years. One year old he was just born. Or it's like deal with that. Like like how was you can't even like Even if that happened in the ninety threes I couldn't even fathom that.
There's there's some thirteen year old who just watched you and is like I'm like, bro, I can do that.
Yeah, I can beat this guy. Yeah, exactly. That's exactly what he's saying. He's looking at the nine hundred, the eight ninety seven, the nine twenty seven. Nine twenty seven. Nine twenty seven. He's thinking, that's my target. And then in six, seven years' time you're gonna He's gonna repost some ridiculous deadly. And the same thing happened with with uh us ninety threes when you came along. It was like, hang on. Yeah, where are they come along?
Exactly. Um, yeah, you were like nineteen years old and putting up crazy sh How old were y how old were you when you did nine twenty?
Nineteen.
See, that's you he was a fucking teenager doing 920. And it was like that was the biggest total we've ever seen. And he's 19, and he's like, Oh, you guys were doing your whole career to get here. That's why what Joey did was freaking, it's crazy that she's still around. Um Nutso. Talking about the 93s, anyways. Wha what was well Christian, what was your expectation coming in? 'Cause I know Matt Gary and a lot of them had very high hopes for you. You obviously lived up to the hype, but they were telling anybody who would listen, your numbers are up and you're gonna be a threat.
Yeah, I think uh I've been really excited for this preparation. I think I've been able to sort out the external, sort out the the foundation of my life so that I've been able to put more into training. Um and like I've been telling everyone, I was so tired of finishing fourth year after year. Even though I've been getting better, it's still not been enough. But um the last twelve weeks have been have been amazing. I think my expectations were I knew what I had to do. Um nominated fourth and it was gonna be the same thing as last year where You know, if everybody turns up I will still back myself, but th the numbers weren't quite at the ceiling. But this is sport. This is powerlifting, right? And it's competitive now.
So the chances of everybody going nine for nine is zero. It's not zero, but it's very close to zero. So I knew that if I gonna if I can turn up, go eight for eight. I was not dropping that last deadlift this time. So, um, I think my ceiling today was like nine ten, nine fifteen, kind of that kind of region. So, uh, it was just about making smart calls and being a good power lifter as opposed to a strong one, 'cause by the time we're all here the strength is what it is. You're there. You just gotta be able to focus and hit. It's just it's it's the same old stuff that everybody hears. You gotta One, two, three, four, all the way up to nine. And you'll be all right. Mm.
Execution of the day. Exactly. The person anybody can be stronger, dude. Uh Emil could have been the strongest in the room, but if he has worse execution than me or you or the I forgot it I can't pronounce his name, the Algerian, it doesn't matter.
Nuwari, are you are you self coached first? Um 'cause you also coach Gerens.
Yes.
Uh so I mean you you got a you got two killers on your roster right there.
