Okay, so the theme is ask, seek, knock. As independent authors, we wear a lot of different hats, don't we? We're a writer. Technically we're an editor because we have to edit our own work to a degree. Where marketers We're business owners. Bookkeeper, right? Uh we gotta keep track of our expenses and our revenue. And if you're like me. You're also a book designer because I do all my own interior layouts and my book covers. Oh, then again, let's not forget our personal lives, right? Many of us have spouses, we have children, and a lot of us have a day job. That's a lot, right? So it's it's easy to see how we can feel overwhelmed at times directly because of all that has to be done. And because we're kingdom writers, we face the obstacles that the enemy throws at us.

Why do independent authors feel overwhelmed by wearing so many hats?

Sometimes we can feel like King Jehosaphat in the story in Second Chronicles twenty. When he faced a battle with the Moabites, the Ammonites, and the Edomites, three big enemies that were coming against him. But he faced his enemies only from one direction. They were all coming from the south, and How many of you often feel like you are simply surrounded on all sides? I know there have been times in my life when I've felt that way, that it was just coming at me from every direction. Sometimes I think it would be nice to have the wisdom of Solomon. But then As I sit and think about that, I remember That I have access to all the wisdom of God. Because I have the mind of Christ and First Corinthians two sixteen says that

Who can know the Lord's thoughts for Who knows enough to teach him? But we understand these things for we have the mind of Christ. That means that all the wisdom that the kingdom of God has is available to us right now when we need it. Amen. Today I want to look at Matthew seven seven. Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you. Now this also appears um in other places in the gospels. But I want to ask you a question. And I want you to pay particular attention to the Initial gut response you have to the question because that is more than likely the truth. To the answer. How many of you find it hard to ask for help? Or to ask for what you need. Gonna give you a little bit to think about that.

I know that initially my gut tenses when I think about having to ask someone for something. Pastor Chuck Amons in his book Reconstructing Dad. Says this That there is a universal propensity of mankind to believe we are on our own in the world, needing to protect ourselves. provide for our own welfare and promote our own agenda in the world. How many of you identify with at least one of those phrases in that sentence? I know that I very l quickly identified with two. I've always felt like I'm on my own in the world. And the idea of needing to protect myself as well. I've been uh a single for the majority of my adulthood. Our childhood has probably affected how we react to this. Ask idea as well. So thus we tend not to ask for anything, but the Bible is quite clear we are to ask.

Theme: Ask, Seek, Knock As independent authors, we wear a lot of different hats. Writer, marketer, business owner, bookkeeper, book designer. It's easy to feel overwhelmed at times. And because we're Kingdom writers, we also face the obstacles the enemy throws at us. God provided all the answers we need in His Word. Let's look specifically at Matt. 7:7 NKJV, "Ask and it shall be given to you; seek and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." How many of you find it hard to ask for help, to seek for what you need, or to knock on the necessary doors? Yet, as Luke 18:17 tells us we are to approach the kingdom of God like a child. They are innocent, trusting, and act without hesitation or fear. Kids have no problem asking for what they want! Somewhere in our growing up years, we lost those qualities, but we need to recover them. Without fear or hesitation and coupled with belief and faith, God wants us to… Ask for his message, his words to put onto the page. Seek him and his wisdom for how to do what he's called us to do. Knock on the doors God leads us to. But also realize our books are like knocking on someone's door. Those who buy them have opened their door to our words. Our marketing is a knock on someone's door. We are God's children, and he delights in us. He isn't going to hesitate to give us what we ask, seek, and knock for.
