The Clark's Pump and Shop phone line is 859-280-2287. A-Vision Auto Glass text machine is 772-774-5254. And this edition is sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office. If you call T.J., he'll make them pay. Drew Franklin, you know, yesterday I debuted a new character, Polite Matt. Seemed to go fairly well. It's an Ask Anything Wednesday. I'm going to try to continue it for one more day. Wow.
Pushing it to the limits here. Well, it worked yesterday.
Chapter 4: What personal stories are shared about Ryan's health?
Now, I'm not going to promise. This is probably the last day. And we might even go next week, Shannon, and have a day of, like, snappy, Matt, just to balance it off. Extra snappy. But, you know, it went well. I had a good day yesterday. We had some good calls. Everything was good. So we'll do day two of polite Matt today. Looking forward to that. Got a great response yesterday.
High approval rating for Polite Matt. Yeah, I actually thought yesterday was a really fun show. I went back as I was driving around, listened to parts of it, and I was like, that was a really fun show. So we'll do it again here today, 859-280-2287.
Chapter 5: What insights are offered about the upcoming basketball draft?
So, Drew, there's ā There's not a ton of sports today. Like there's not a whole lot of sports news, UK news. I still think the basketball playoffs are kind of boring right now. So there's a lot of sort of non-sports topics today. So this is one of those, if you're a stick-to-sports person, I don't think any of them are really political. So you don't have to turn it off if you can't handle that.
But I think otherwise it's going to be kind of a little bit looser than most days. This is kind of like old Matt and Drew just doing a podcast. Well, you know, I prefer those days. I mean, I enjoy the sports, but I also love to get off topic with the randomness.
Well, we have some housekeeping to start with, and the first part of it isn't the best, but I talked yesterday with Ryan's girlfriend, and then she talked to Ryan, and so I'm It gives me no joy to say this, but he wanted folks to know. So earlier this week on Monday, Ryan had a medical procedure. He does not want to get into what it was, and I will respect that.
Chapter 6: How do the hosts feel about the current state of the Reds?
But it's, you know, of some significance. And he's going to be out for a little while. I don't know how long, at least through Memorial Day, could be longer than that. I want to respect his privacy on it, and as much as he's a goofball on this show, he can be a private person on things, and so we want to do that. What I would like to say to the audience is, you know, we all love Ryan.
I mean, you all ā you know, the three of us, you know, he's like our brother. And to those of you listening, it's very ā I know ā You feel that way even if you don't know him. So I hope everyone will just today or tonight just say a prayer for him. And he's going to get through this, but it is significant. So he will be out for a little while.
And he wants us ā he gave the message for everybody to have fun and not ā and I would suggest to you in your own way, you know, pray for him, think about him. Don't reach out.
okay that's not he doesn't really like that honestly um but uh he wanted folks to know and so i just wanted to put that out there drew and shannon billy mario and i are going to keep uh persevere keep going through this but um just wanted the audience to know that Yeah, we're thinking of Ryan and wishing the best for him, and we'll hold it down while he's off as long as he needs there.
Chapter 7: What humorous anecdotes are shared about local culture?
Yeah, so it'll at least be through, like I said, at least be through Memorial Day, maybe a little bit longer than that. But he's doing okay, so that's good. But that's why he's been out, and those of you who've listened may have wondered, well, what? He didn't really say what he was doing. That's the reason. So that's number one. Now, number two.
A week from Friday, I'm going to be out just for a day. And I was trying to figure out what to do, you know, how to make a show. And Billy is always like, I want to host a show. I want to host a show. And I've let him do it maybe once or twice. So I'm giving him the reins of a show. Okay. I like it.
Chapter 8: What are the most pressing issues facing the community discussed?
Now, I'm giving him the reins to like, you know, he's in charge of it. So it's going to be good or bad on him. Plus, it's the day before Memorial Day weekend. So if it doesn't work out. We'll just, you know, Shannon, throw him in the lake or something that weekend, right?
Yeah, you've got a three-day weekend ahead. You've got like a three-day weekend.
Everybody can forget about it, and we can dunk Billy's head in the water. He has selected as his co-host for the day Nick Roush. Okay. Everybody likes Nick Roush. What did you call him? Not everybody. Yeah, everybody loves Nick Roush. You called him Big Click Nick. Yeah. He knows how to get a good headline going on the website.
The problem is with the two of them, you heard Billy yelling about the baseball game yesterday. They're very takey. They are very takey, and I've said to both of them, I want to preemptively tell you to turn it down a notch. Is Nick going to come on here and predict that Kentucky is going to beat Alabama?
I don't know what Nick's going to do, but I preemptively told the two of them, whatever you think you're going to do, turn it down one notch. They're our closest thing to Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless. Yes. Like, having just strong opinions. But without the celebrity, without the built-in. Just arguing in the hot takes. So, what I want to say is I want everybody to listen.
Billy's excited about it. This is kind of Nick's. It's not his debut on this show, but it's maybe the highest profile thing he's done. But feel free to call in or text him and go, calm down. Because I won't be able to listen. I'll be traveling. Intentionally. I intentionally scheduled it during the show. But everybody, just feel free next week, give them support, but also tell them calm down.
I'm excited about it because now my Memorial Day weekend got longer because I'm not going to be on letting them have it. So maybe I'll also step away as far as possible in case it crashes and burns. Exactly. I won't have nothing to do with it if it does.
That weekend is a big one, though, because a lot of people will save the podcast for when they're out on the boat or on the grill with their families. So it's a holiday show for them.
It's a big one.
