08 Jan 2026

Transcription

Chapter 1: What recent news about Auburn's football team is discussed?

2.309 - 35.708

It's the Lockdown Podcast Network, your team every day. We were all starting to ask, okay, where are the linemen? Where are the big guys up front? They just got a good one. They just got a good one. You are Locked On Auburn, your daily podcast on the Auburn Tigers. Part of the Locked On Podcast Network, your team every day.

0

35.941 - 60.666

Yes, welcome on in to Lockdown Auburn, your daily Auburn Tigers podcast. I'm your host, Zach Blackerby, and thank you so much for making Lockdown Auburn your first listen every single day. News breaking. I saw Jeffrey Lee report it first. Yvonne Three will give him their credit there. Cody Siegler, the defensive tackle from Arkansas State, signing with the Auburn Tigers.

0

60.646 - 81.422

defensive tackle, probably going to play a lot of three technique for Auburn. At least that's what he did at Arkansas State, according to our friends at Pro Football Focus. I think this is important for several reasons. This is a guy that was desired pretty early on by the staff, according to reports and rumblings, but he was wanted by a lot of teams.

0

81.773 - 103.301

We've seen precedents for this before, where you get guys out of Arkansas State or App State. Auburn's gotten an edge guy from App State in the past, Jalen McLeod, an edge guy from Arkansas State. Sigler, an interior guy, but still you've seen guys at the G5 level excel and then they get a chance at the SEC or the Big Ten, and they take that next step.

0

103.321 - 131.959

This is what's expected for Cody Ziegler, who I think can be a guy who absolutely, absolutely takes that next step for this defensive front. Big out of necessity, too. Obviously, you just need bodies to some extent, and you want those guys to be as good as possible, but defensive line was one of the several needs that we all kind of agreed upon. You look at the roster, like, yeah, okay.

131.999 - 157.872

They need more help there, both in the upside and with the depth. And so you get the, the announcement from Lee Goddard and Jordan Crawford that they're coming back. That's good. It's good. Starting points, good core, but you need more. And yeah, Both of those guys being true sophomores this season. Sigler coming in and being a senior, which is nice. You need a nice combination of action there.

158.112 - 178.698

Looking at his stats, 6'3", 297, big, big boy. So could play the nose, too, probably at that. So positional versatility, upside, depth, upside. Put him next to Malik Autry or Jordan Crawford. We haven't heard on Darian Smith yet. I think Corey Wells is going to play as a freshman. We're getting there. Still need more guys. I'd still like at least two more.

178.718 - 202.717

I'd honestly like three, but two more for sure. As far as guys who can play in the interior, you're going to need guys on the edge as well. But look, this was a recruiting battle. I mean, when you Google his name, there's like... Definitely a bunch of different team sites writing about Cody Sigler because I think he entertained several different schools. And Auburn was the one who got it done.

202.918 - 217.76

So exciting, exciting, exciting. I love the precedent set, though, because this is... When the transfer portal really hit the ground running, this is kind of the first place my brain went years ago.

Chapter 2: Who is Cody Sigler and what is his background?

217.96 - 243.491

Man, this is going to be awesome for those guys who kill it at a lower level of competition. And then, okay, maybe they don't get enough draft attention. They get to prove it one more time on the largest stages in college football. And that's what Sigler gets to do. There's also a track record for him coming in and Vontrell King-Williams helping guys get better. over a one-year stint with him.

0

244.653 - 245.394

I think that's awesome.

0

Chapter 3: What role is Cody Sigler expected to play on the team?

246.095 - 264.283

I think that's awesome. So, Sigler, the latest addition. Been two guys added to the portal on the trenches. You got Stanton Ramil yesterday, the Michigan State left tackle. Now you get Sigler on the defensive line. So, there we go. We need more. We need more. But it's a solid, solid start. This is a guy that makes a ton of sense.

0

Chapter 4: Why is Cody Sigler's transfer significant for Auburn's defense?

264.303 - 288.436

Played a lot of football. Last year, had 513 snaps on the defensive line. Played a little bit of special teams as well. Field goal block, all of that good stuff. In 2024, looks like he didn't play. We need to look more into that. And then in 2023, he just played on one, just played in one game in 2023. So, got to look more into that, learn more about him.

0

288.456 - 317.443

But certainly exciting to see what he can bring to the table. Experience... depth i don't care if he starts or not i don't care if you put him behind crawford or autry it doesn't matter the room gets better now go and get two or three more please please um we'll do a few questions and we'll go to a read and we'll get a few more questions um Is that you, Tanner? Welcome, Tanner.

0

317.484 - 343.468

Congratulations on being first. Congratulations. Spencer asking, did you see what Jared Smith commented on the Malik blocked into LSU? I think so. I think so. He just commented the date, right? for those who missed him, Malik blocked and transferring to LSU. Great addition by LSU. I hate that Auburn lost him. I understand why it stinks part of the game, but I get it. Uh, but yeah, yeah.

0

343.528 - 367.953

On that social media post on Instagram, right. Um, Jared Smith commented the date of when LSU comes to Auburn next year. So I'm cool with it. I'm cool with it. Um, Harold says, Zach, I appreciate how fast you operate with the breaking news. Thanks for everything. Keep up the good work. Yeah, I appreciate y'all being here. I appreciate y'all being here.

They're automating tasks, handling workflows, and making decisions.

0

471.688 - 487.34

But here's the thing. Sometimes they mess up. They delete the wrong files, make changes you didn't authorize, or just go off script. And when that happens, you're stuck trying to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it. Unless you're using Rubric Agent Cloud. Rubric Agent Cloud is the only platform that allows you to monitor, govern, and rewind AI agents.

0

487.681 - 504.582

One platform to help you unleash more agents faster without the risk. It's running in the background the whole time, watching what's happening, making sure things stay on track. You get full visibility. You can set guardrails so agents don't go rogue. And if something breaks, you just roll it back, like undo, but for AI. And the rewind happens fast. We're talking minutes, not hours or days.

0

504.923 - 551.51

Rubric Agent Cloud gives you that safety net when you're experimenting with AI, so one mistake doesn't tank your whole operation. Thank you so much for making Lockdown Auburn your first listen. Every single day. Harold Floyd with a good point here. We've got to face DJ Lagway in the first game. Surprised by that one. DJ Lagway going to Baylor.

0

551.55 - 577.518

I don't think DJ Lagway is as good as who we faced in the opening game last year, but still interested to see what happens with DJ Lagway. I've got my questions on him as a player. We'll jump into that more as the season goes on, but that will impact Auburn for sure in the first game of the season in Atlanta. That is a big... Big deal. Amaris Williams to Georgia. Yeah, that happened earlier.

577.558 - 604.025

We heard that he was visiting. He was pretty vocal about his visit there. He looks like a Georgia defensive lineman. I mean, big, fast, physical, athletic, versatile. There's a lot to like with Amaris Williams. So excited to see exactly what he could be for Georgia. I just hate it's Georgia. I like Amaris, but it stinks to lose guys to your rivals for sure. For sure.

606.097 - 628.546

Drewski says, is there any traction with Clements from the North Tackle defensive lineman, or is that ship sailed? That's not a name I've heard a bunch about lately. So, I mean, I can't comment super passionately on that, but there were some places that said Ziegler was trending away, and that would have felt like a big miss, but a lot of people were pursuing him.

628.767 - 656.929

So, at this point, the second wave of portal commitments that's about to start happening, I think this weekend's going to be super, super busy. Does Auburn kind of pause and look around and say, okay, let's get the guys that we know we like and maybe pay them what they need to get them here? I'm not sure. I'm not sure. RJ's Modern Life.

657.049 - 691.518

Any news on the Ohio State offensive lineman that was visiting? No, and I think that's a good thing. The fact that he hasn't popped up on other campuses, I think, is a good thing. I think there's a solid chance that Auburn is in it for him, for sure. For sure. I'd have to hear the context. I like Blaine a lot. Did he say that in a way where he can't throw it?

Chapter 6: How does Auburn's recruiting strategy adapt to the transfer portal?

703.031 - 718.369

All right. Yeah, cool. So circling back to the defensive line room just for a moment here. Cody Sigler, Arkansas State defensive lineman for the late folks. Some...

0

718.99 - 739.149

if you care about pro football focus numbers, like they're fun to use when they support what you want them to support and then not, and I don't give a whole lot of credence to it, but if you want to make it a positive thing, Cody Sigler was the highest graded defensive player for Arkansas State last year with an 84.3.

0

739.789 - 761.955

His tackle grade was low, which if that's a weakness of his game as a defensive lineman, like, Okay, it is what it is with that. I do think DJ Durkin's defensive system, the linebackers are kind of set up more to make the tackles and the defensive lines kind of meant more to eat up space. So if you had to nitpick, that's not the end of the world, I don't think.

0

762.115 - 782.906

But something to note, something to note for sure, especially if he's able to get there in the backfield. He graded out pretty well as a pass rusher for an interior defensive lineman. The big question, right, and we see this all the time, whether it's guys who played a limited role at maybe a P4 school or played a larger role at a G6 school, which that's the case here.

0

782.946 - 807.544

The big question is, can they take that next step? Can they take that next step? And Auburn has had a decent track record of getting guys from Arkansas State. I mean, we saw that with Keyron. Different position. Same idea, but different position there for sure. Somebody's asking how long the portal is open. It is open until the 16th. You've got the 15th. It's open for two weeks.

808.205 - 832.645

It's open for a full two weeks. So it's open until next Friday. We go, man, says any running back news or are we going with what we got? I like what we got, but it does seem like we're still throwing flyers out there. Jaheim White was a name from West Virginia that was tied to Auburn pretty early on. And a lot of that came from the West Virginia side. And that didn't happen.

832.665 - 858.053

I think he signed with North Texas. I think he signed with North Texas. I mean, the room of Jeremiah Cobb, Nikai Davenport, Omar Mabson, Alvin Henderson, I like it. You did go into the season last year with one other running back. And this staff, I think, is going to want to use the running backs a little bit more than what Hugh Freeze and staff did last time. So I would like one more.

858.134 - 886.53

But if this is what you got, I feel good about it. Right after Davenport committed... there was a report of a Florida running back visiting. So that leads me to think that they're not done. Maybe they'll, maybe they can be picky on this last back, but you know, that is what it is. B man says, what about college football playoff players? Do they get a special waiver if they want to transfer?

888.712 - 914.751

Well, I, So you've got four games tonight. Sorry, you've got four teams left. So you've got two this week. So one tonight, one tomorrow. I'm sure there's an exception for the two schools whose season will go past that. But I don't know what the rule is. But I assume that there is one. I assume that there is one. Daniel talking about Lagway in the first game next year.
