Chapter 2: What historic record did Penn State Wrestling break?
Hereby popular demand. No, so a shout out to Chad on X for suggesting that, hey, we should do a live show because this is an extremely popular unprecedented bit of history here is Penn state wrestling sets the all time dual meet winning streak at 77. They're going to take this even further. This wasn't just them getting across the finish line. Uh, they are going to extend this, uh,
probably for a while, okay? Because they're going to go undefeated this season, most likely going to go undefeated the next season, right? So when does this stop? But also the true freshmen make a statement here. Flow Wrestling being not so eager to rank Marcus Blaze and PJ Duke as highly, okay? And then the team is now third in their standings and their rankings. Josh Barr returns.
So we have plenty to cover here as Penn State shuts out both North Dakota State and Stanford, a top 10 Stanford team, may I mind you, in the tournament rankings at the Journeyman Duels today. So let me know your thoughts in the comments section. But those are the three main topics that we're going to break down today, starting with this unprecedented record here. 1951.
Oklahoma State has held this record for a long time, and that's why you haven't seen any other wrestling program even come close. So the fact that Penn State not only breaks it, but breaks it in dominant fashion and dominant style, which is par for the course, right? This is just kind of what we've expected at this point. Everybody knew that this was coming, going into the season. But
Let's put into perspective just how big of a deal this is because it's 10 out of 10 All-Americans. Penn State's going to be chasing after the NCAA finalist record, right? And number of individual champions in the postseason. It's one thing to do some of these things in the postseason because... it's down to three, three days. Okay.
So you have to perform at a high level over the course of three days. And you know, that is difficult to do when you're competing against so many different teams for one common goal, one common purpose. But when I look at something like this, a record that's, that stood the test of time for since 1951. Okay. Uh, So this is decade after decade after decade.
This is 70 plus years in the making, right? And it takes multiple teams to accomplish this. So something about when you see the records at the NCAA postseason, that's reflective of one team, one group, one year of accomplishments. But this record... It's not just a reflection of this year's team, the 2025-2026 team, and this one coaching staff.
I guess since it's been Kale Sanderson and company, right, and Cody and Casey Cunningham, that all of this comes together. But the team aspect of it, for the past five years, Penn State has been building towards this record. This wasn't broken overnight.
This was a five, this took a five-year process, meaning that you had to win every single dual meet for the past five years against all the odds, okay? So you don't have anything that, you know, bad luck.

Chapter 3: How has Cale Sanderson contributed to Penn State's success?
Where? Where do they slip up? They do face Ohio State this season, but I'm still not projecting a loss for them. So that's the toughest one that they're going to face. But then this lineup, other than Levi Haynes, everybody is back next season. So is anybody expecting a loss in the 26-27 season? Because it's not like, oh, this roster is going to completely turn over.
It it's it's really it is kind of difficult to put into words, honestly, but understand the perspective of this. And I like how Kale Sanderson plays it off the week leading up to it. It's just like, oh, we don't really talk about it. We don't really think about it. It is what it is. It's kind of it's understandable. But it's that kind of mindset as to why Penn State was able to break.
a record like this, that it's very process oriented. It's not goal oriented because then you get too preoccupied with the goal and the reasons that made you great all along are put to the side. And that's why you see teams and programs slip up because they go away from what made them great to begin with. When you focus on these things that Cale would consider, you know, arbitrary, right?
He says a lot of these things, just, he, he just says they don't matter. He just, he's there to fight. He's there to, he's there to scrap at the end of the day. That's what this team is built for. So Penn state 77 dual meet victories, not slowing down anytime soon. And that's just one headline here, right? Josh Barr makes his return to the starting lineup. The true freshmen make a statement.
This lineup is starting to get back to full strength. But Nate Desmond impresses. Marcus Blaze and PJ Duke prove that they're in that elite class. If you didn't think that they were true NCAA title contenders, I know most people did, but for anybody that didn't,
