Penn State and Kale Sanderson are definitely entertaining it from the way that Sanderson spoke to the media just a couple of days ago.
Yeah, first of all, Zach, thanks for having me back on the show. Good to talk to you. Yeah, 141 is very interesting for Penn State, having seen this team up close and personal. They have a question there as far as, all right, who's better suited for this lineup this year? Because I know they are shifting guys around. Aaron Nagao, unfortunately, is dealing with a lot of injuries. Once again, the guy's been in college wrestling for a long time. I can't believe it. I think he's been at Penn State now for three years already and going after his two-plus over at Minnesota when he was an All-American. So... The guy's been in wrestling for a long time. You feel bad from the perspective of he just can't seem to get healthy right now because at his best, the guy's an All-American, obviously.
Maybe a fringe NCAA finalist. So without him in the lineup, it's like, okay, what does Penn State do? And then I think people's first reaction would be, okay, remember when they couldn't fill 125 a handful of years ago where that was like their only hole in the lineup? Well, I don't think they have a hole here. I just think it's a matter of who are they going to put there, so... I know coming up, we get to this duel on Saturday against Rutgers. Their probables are he's listed there. I don't think necessarily he's going to go. They also listed Nate Desmond. I think he's a very intriguing guy that Penn State fans know who was at 125 and all of a sudden is like, all right, you know what? Let's not suck all the way down to 125.
Let's just go back up to your natural weight. Two weight classes up at 141. He's really, really good. I think that's a really good option for Penn State and obviously the Braden Davis equation of it all. is this is a kid who made the Big Ten finals and it was considered one of those shortlist contenders for a national title just a couple of years ago. We've obviously seen him being really up and down, but the talent is obviously there. Going up a weight class is probably the best thing for him, but he's currently in red because they wanted to play out all this lineup math.
