Why did I look tired in the mirror even after a good night’s sleep?
This came from a real moment in my life this last week. And I have a feeling I'm not the only one who has had this happen to them. But sometimes the thing that makes us feel older is not the mirror. Sometimes it can be a surprise camera angle when we're not really prepared for it. You know, this week I was getting ready to send a Marco Polo. And if you don't know what that is, it's just an app where you can pretty much video text someone. And so you know how my Marco Polo is you're not necessarily like setting up ring lights, fixing your hair and putting on makeup. You're just trying to send a quick message before your date gets started. And when I opened the app, I caught a look at my face. And for a second I sort of forgot what I was about to talk about.
And I thought, wait, why do I look so tired? I mean, the funny thing is I got good sleep and um this wasn't like one of those mornings where I felt like I'd been tossing and turning all night long, right? I wasn't necessarily running on fumes. I felt fine, but my face looked like it had missed the memo on that. So my eyes, they looked puffy and heavy. They were kind of weighted down. And everything looked just a little bit flatter. And when I say flatter, I'm just talking about like the you know, the cheeks are somewhat sunken in and sliding down my face, right? And so it wasn't reflecting exactly how I felt on the inside. You know, I typically wake up with energy and vitality and I'm ready to go. And so when I saw myself in the mirror, it just was a little bit shocking.
And so I know that this can kind of feel like a small thing, but those little moments kind of hit us a little harder than we expect. And they come when we're not expecting them. So we don't have like a guard up ready to receive that. So it seems to happen when we least expect it, especially if when we're about to jump into a Zoom call or looking in front of a rear view mirror in the car when we're about to back up the car at the grocery store. And so before you know it, your brain starts telling. a story about all of this, whether it's aging or hormones, or if you just need to go stop by the Walgreens and pick up some more makeup, right? And so today I want to help slow down that spiral because most of the time your face, it doesn't need more criticism.
It just needs more support. And once you know what it's trying to say, you can give it what it needs, right? So it might be saying it needs circulation, hydration, muscle activation. And so before you decide something's wrong with you, I want you to hang in here with me today because we're gonna be talking About the five-minute routine that I use to look more awake when I wake up those on those mornings and look more tired, right? I call it the face reset where I use the F-A-C-E to spell out the method. I want to give you a simple way to understand what may be making your face look tired and then what you can do about it in as little as five minutes to help you look more awake and refresh. And so if you're listening and thinking, like, okay, Michelle, I need you to actually walk me through this step by step, show it to me.
This is exactly what that face exercise workshop on May 30th is for. And so I'm today I'm just giving you a quick uh framework. So know that you can take your tired face and look more awake. But in that workshop, I'll walk you through a full routine step by step so you can see where my hand is. Hands are, what muscles we're trying to activate, and how to do it without pulling and tugging on your skin, like we often see on YouTube. So I'm Michelle Rose, and I help women over 40 stop letting wrinkles, comparison, and our changing bodies make us hide from the calling that God has for us in our lives in this new season. And so around here, we talk about beauty without shame and without also making it An idol.
And because caring for your face and your body and your health and your confidence is not vanity when it helps you show up with more courage for your purpose and the calling God has for you.
