Unknown 0:05
Well, here we are making waves at CCW twenty twenty-six and uh we have uh Meladin Rato Nich. So um Meladin, yeah, this is your last CCW.
Mladen Vratonjić 0:21
Uh so we would uh I was correct you. I hope it's not the last CCW, it's just the last in this capacity.
Unknown 0:26
In your capacity as a chairman. Correct. And we we have the AGM today as well, so uh um you you will be handing over the battle.
Mladen Vratonjić 0:34
That's for sure, you know. But just type I I Want to believe that she so my last chairman, let me cloud.
Unknown 0:43
Okay, so uh what we wanted to do is get a vibe of uh the uh CCW this year. So uh uh Valladin very kindly uh decided that uh it would be a good idea for him to uh participate in the podcast. So thank you so much, uh Valladin. Um so let's let's start then. So uh critical communications has evolved uh from things reliable voice streams of intelligent interconnected mission criticals, uh ecosystems and a few people uh have contributed to that but as chairman of the TCCA uh you've you've seen one another the transformation. Over the decades, um you've been in telecommunications and part of the association and uh you've had a particular uh slant towards public safety, I know. Uh when you look back at C C W compared with the early years in the industry, what's changed the most for you?
Mladen Vratonjić 1:35
A little bit of history, I hope you don't mind. It's our first event, uh, which I was not present, but my predecessor told me it was planned for 50 people. And in the hotel room, it was booked a room for 50 people, and apparently 120 people are here, so we immediately had to book a bigger room. That's somehow uh the interest and and and even at that time when there was no it was just about tetra and we and our first events were called tetra both congresses. Absolutely.
Mladen Vratonjić 2:10
Uh my very first event was in 2005 uh in Frankfurt. It was already a great event with exhibition space and lots of participants and Uh but Авто д три хотели ивент вивол ту. went up to to this level to have an event in in some huge expedition space in that and now We are here with two hundred and fifty exhibitors.

How has the critical communications industry grown from a 50‑person TETRA event to today’s 250‑exhibitor global conference?

Mladen Vratonjić 2:40
We have a conference of two hundred more speakers, three days event that's packed with uh events and uh three conference streams, so it is really amazing. How is it and why is it? uh probably there are so several several reasons At at the time when we started the market was relatively independently. There were different markets with different systems. Right, Tetris standard standardized communication tools. But each entity developed their own networks and those were networks devoted to either public safety or other other admission or other critical communications. And uh it was the market was Less and the number of participants and involved people in this market was totally different to what we have now.
Mladen Vratonjić 3:34
And I was I was lucky enough to witness the transformation of the industry. This is happening. Mostly in in the last decade. Actually we I must I must stress one thing. Uh it is it was our idea. So TCCA promoted uh Introduction of critical communications in mainstream standards. That was our idea, which we carefully tried to promote. And it was accepted by standardization entities. And one of the milestones was in two thousand thirteen when we signed the uh Mark uh representation partner agreement with R G P P and at at that moment the standard is becoming mainstream, which means much more players, uh greater competition. Then it means introduction of uh public uh public operators or critical communications.
Mladen Vratonjić 4:36
Public communications into the world of critical communications. They recognize the business model. And we all know when public operators join the number of uh industry, number of factor number of manufacturers is joining this this train as well. So this is This is what we have now, you know. It is we c we can say that we are witnessing uh globalization, we are witnessing internalization. And of course interconnections. When I say to an organization, it's

Why did TCCA push critical communications into mainstream 3GPP standards and what milestones marked that shift?

Mladen Vratonjić 5:07
Probably the first side that the whole world actually is following a single standard, which is which is great.
