Later, the House of Representatives narrowly passed the SAVE America Act requiring voter ID by a vote of 215 to 214, with Rep Thomas Massie joining with the Democrats. ID is routinely required for everyday activities like entering government buildings, courts, buying alcohol or cigarettes, renting a car, signing a lease, getting a mortgage, and more—yet Democrats oppose it for voting. Voter ID protects against fraud like illegal voting, double voting, or votes by the deceased, making it a civil rights issue where fraudulent votes dilute legitimate ones.
