Welcome to another edition of the District Club. I'm Ben Dominic, opinion editor at the Daily Wire. Happy to be joined again by my colleagues Tim Rice, DC Bureau Chief, and our White House correspondent Mary Margaret Olahan. I think that today we have to talk about the degree to which we have seen this massive uh money bomb that Republicans have been talking about for the last several weeks as their saving grace in this midterm. And really debate whether it's going to have any impact at all. There was a great piece, I think, and I say this pretty rarely when it comes to covering Texas in the New York Times, that ran through the different names that came to mind uh when uh people uh had to react to the name Ken Paxton. Uh it included a number of different Republicans, including key Republican uh You know, voters, people who had voted Republican consistently before. Here are some of the things they said. Crook, criminal, crook, crooked, bad, amoral, disgusting.
Two words morally corrupt. Disgusting. Corrupt. Womanizer, crook. By the way, the one who said womanizer and crook also in when reacting to Talerico indicated that she would definitely be voting for I think that we are Yeah. in it's sort of through the looking glass when it comes to this situation. The latest news is that the uh Senate Leadership Fund backed political action committee is willing to spend upwards of two hundred million dollars in Texas, according to uh Punch Bull this morning. This seems to me to be a massive self-own by the Republican Party. Tim, Mary Margaret, what is your reaction to this situation that basically has Republicans throwing a lot of money into a race that Could have been, you know, something that cost them a lot less.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, first of all, my first reaction to hearing all those insults to Ken Paxson is the Democrat messaging ads are doing very, very well because that's what they're saying. They're calling him crooked. They're calling him corrupt. Yes. That is actually the buzzword of the midterm elections, corruption. Um that's how they want to paint most Republicans. And uh it's actually not a bad idea if you're you're going after people in power, especially when the president of the United States is very wealthy.
