Russ, and with me this week is... PJ Coffey from the Southampton Guild of Roleplayers, also from Hover and Hacking TT RPG Design. I am, as ever, delighted to be here and filled with joy and enthusiasm. And, of course, that's a purchasing love of mankind for which I am well known. Joining us also is one who's spoken in several languages, including English, sarcasm, and occasionally it is said, it is one.
It's the only, it's... It's me, Jessica from EM Publishing, and I immediately started to get hiccups as soon as we pressed live on the streams. I'm going to try and hold myself together and not hiccup into the microphone, because I imagine that's not what people are here to listen to.
I don't know, I think that would make for quite a good comedy podcast.
They've banned all the ASMR podcasters from YouTube, so maybe this could be our way to tap into that audience, getting, just outsize it, 25 minutes of Jessica.
Well, that might be what we have in the background, but people haven't come here to hear that. They have come here to hear the bundles, the oodles, the mountainous amount of news that we have pouring out on Gen Con.
We have got a lot of news, a lot of news. Yeah, there was a convention this week. Really? In the last week. Did you know? I went to a convention. It was bloody enormous. It was like massive pain in the rear. God. Yeah. So the convention I went to was way, way bigger than that Gen Con convention. 95,000 people. Went to my convention. Um, I went to the new forest show, which is spread out over like a lot of acres and they have like millions and millions of tents and livestock and dog shows and horse jumping and track. Cause you can buy tractors there and you can buy boats for some reason. I don't know how people buy a boat, then sail it out of the new forest show, but it being in a forest, but, um, yeah, yeah.
So I can, I can say I officially did go to a convention. In the last week. But it was not Gen Con. No.
It was definitely not Gen Con. Yeah.
Talking of Gen Con.
Oh.
Talking of Gen Con. Because that did take place in the last few days. It was from Thursday through to Sunday, a four-day event. I mean, everyone listening knows what Gen Con is. It's the biggest North American tabletop gaming event. I suppose it's like 60,000 to 70,000 people, I think. Maybe just over 70,000 people. Which is a lot of people. Yeah, they sold out. They sold out. Yeah. And they did quite a few cool things at Gen Con as well. I mean, although there was a tornado. Did you hear about the tornado? Well, there's a tornado warning. So in Indianapolis, there's a tornado warning and everyone was warned to get to an inner room. which as it happens, the exhibit hall was at Gen Con. But the rain came crashing down and the rain started coming down from the ceiling in sheets within the actual convention space.
Not a typical convention hazard. Not what you would expect. No, no.
How is it? Just look at our picture where there's the inside of an aircraft hangar or convention centre. They're very similar looking. And it's absolutely chucking it down. Yeah, yeah.
Did the roof fly off? How is this occurring?
It just all came through. It just leaked through. It wasn't designed to sustain, I guess, that much rain. Luckily, apparently no stock was destroyed or anything like that. I think everyone got lucky, so... um it was more an inconvenience than anything else but wow it was uh it was wet and it was very very very rainy for a while there uh there in indianapolis

Unlike here, where it was really, really hot and dry.
Yeah, it was nice and sunny over here in the UK.
Yeah. There was also a cool drone show as well. Wizards of the Coast put on a drone show.

Yeah. So I think it was about half an hour long or so. I'm not sure how long it was. And it had like some dragons and it had a Wizard of Thay there and it had all sorts of dice and all sorts of stuff.
