All the Tabletop are outplaying us. We aim to amuse and we aim to enthuse. And Morris is unofficial. Tabletop RPG.
Doggy. Ha!
hello hello hello and welcome to morris's unofficial tabletop rpg talk streaming live monday's 8 p.m uk time 3 p.m eastern on youtube twitch and facebook i am russ aka morris or morris aka russ and with me this week is pj
coffee from the southampton guild of role players and homebrew and hacking ttrpg design Russ, how's it? It is a pleasure to be here. And joining us also in what might be new to you, but is definitely new to me, it's bringing out a hint of platinum blonde bombshell. It's the one, it's the only, it's Ian Publishing's
It's me, Jessica, indeed, from EM Publishing. Yes, I am blonde. I dye my hair crazy colours, and when the crazy colours fade, the bleach is what remains. But anyway, we're not here to talk about hair. We're here to talk about the latest tabletop role-playing news. Russ, do you have a little summary of
the highlights of what we're going to be talking about today? Yeah. In the show this week, Ravenloft is coming to Netflix. Forgotten Realms is not coming to Netflix. There's a new Dungeons & Dragons movie script. There's Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 5B out in the world. So we've got a whole lot of stuff to talk about.
Excellent. We'll dive into it. And if you're watching live, as Russ has mentioned, please feel free to jump in the comments and get involved.
Okay. Shall we start with Ravenloft then?
Yes. What's
the
news?
So we have been sort of aware that there was a D&D Forgotten Realms television show being developed for Netflix over the last year. We've been talking about that, I think. Maybe longer. We've been talking about it for a while.
I have forgotten about it, if I was honest. But yes, I do recall now.
Well, there's some sad, sad, sad news. It might even be bad news. Some sad, bad news. Oh? Because that show is no more. Oh. They are no longer making a Forgotten Realms TV show for Netflix. But fear not. They are still making a D&D show, but it's Ravenloft.
Okay, so they were thinking, you know, Twilight's quite popular, maybe vampires will do better with the mainstream.
I guess that might be what they're thinking.
Twilight's quite popular. Or they might be thinking, yeah, well, I mean, we did The Witcher, so we've presumably got some spare sets kicking around. Remember, reuse is better than recycling.
Yeah, I feel like it's an easier sell as well because people, if you say the Forgotten Realms, people that don't know Dungeons and Dragons might not be aware kind of, you know, what that means, like generic fantasy, they might think. Whereas if you say it's a vampire thing, people are like, oh, I know what that is. People know
what
a vampire is,
yeah.
People know what a vampire is,
yes. So this is a live action series and it's the origin story of Strahd Bonzarovich.
Okay. So
this is
how he became a vampire?
I'm assuming that's what that means, yeah.
I apologise for laughing because I have actually listened to iStroud on audiobook. And he's often described as a vamp cell. And I'm like, yeah, that's fair. So this is
what we're going to see, a live-action vamp incel.
Yeah, well, before he becomes a vampire, so he's just a regular incel.
Okay.
He kills it hard.
Well, his backstory is, so basically, this Strahd was like a warlord, a nobleman in Barovia.
Okay.
And he fell in love with a lady called Tatiana.
Okay.
But unfortunately, his brother, Sergei, also fell in love with the lady called Tatiana.
And
Tatiana fell in love with Sergei, not Strahd.
Because Sergei was funnier, nicer. And had a horse. I mean, if he did have a horse, I don't think that was critical. You don't know. I don't know that it's true. I'm pretty sure Strahd could have had a horse if he wanted.
What is the latest news about the Ravenloft TV series on Netflix?
Yeah.
Not in that picture. He hasn't got a horse.
He doesn't have a horse in that picture. Nor does he have any recognizable sense of humor or any insights whatsoever into what he's like. He's one of those people who just talk at you rather than to you.
Well, anyway, Tatiana and Sergei, they get married. That's nice.
