How does Geoffrey introduce tonight’s cozy campervan bedtime story?
Hello, Jeffrey here, and welcome back to Nightfalls. I've got a quick favor to ask. If you're enjoying our time together, please do share the show with friends and family. Hopefully we can help them to a better night's sleep and it helps us a huge amount. Thank you. From a very young age, I've been obsessed with camper vans. The freedom they offer just seems so enticing. The ability to fasten a bike, pop in a surfboard, load up with supplies and go where the wind takes you is so exciting. Not forgetting Otto, of course. I've never had one, but I'm determined to get there someday. And hopefully I'll be able to share some stories from it. Which leads me to tonight's story, where we're hunkering down in a camper van as a woman called Lizzie takes a trip across Ireland, keeping warm and cosy despite the rainy weather.
As well as taking us on our travels, this story also reminds us to listen to our own hearts and inner guidance. Such a wonderful reminder to have in our minds as we fall asleep. If you've ever wanted to lose yourself in a land of wizards, goblins, and creatures that really shouldn't be able to talk, somewhere between the tales we tell here and somewhere entirely new, Hello from the Magic Tavern is waiting for you. It's an improvised comedy podcast set in the fantastical land of Foon, hosted by Arnie Niekamp, alongside his co-hosts, Udisor the Wizard and Chunt the Talking Badger.
Each episode, they interview the creatures, spellcasters, and adventurers that wander through from throughout the land. A mix of storytelling, improv comedy, and pure absurdity. Find Hello from the Magic Tavern wherever you listen to your podcasts. You know, there are a lot of different places here in Night Falls, but during the day, I still find myself wanting to learn a little more about the world. That's what led me to Everything Everywhere Daily. It's one of the most popular daily education podcasts, even recently ranked the number one history podcast. And each episode is about 10 minutes, so it's easy to fit into your day. They cover everything from history and science to fascinating people and moments you might never have come across otherwise.
Some recent episodes I really liked include one on the history of curling, which, as a Scot, I have a soft spot for. Tracing it back to medieval Scotland. Or their episode on the world's greatest art museums, which I found myself really drawn to. I've always loved art, and hearing the stories behind these places makes it feel surprisingly immersive. So if you like the idea of learning something new without it ever feeling like work, Learn something new every single day with Everything Everywhere daily. Find it on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts.
What details set the scene for Lizzie’s campervan life and her van “Dave”?
Here on Nightfalls, we know how helpful an immersive bedtime story can be when your mind needs somewhere else to go. But perhaps there are nights when you need something a little different. A story with less plot to follow, fewer characters to connect with, and nothing much to keep track of at all. That's exactly what Catherine Nicolai offers on her podcast, Nothing Much Happens. Each episode is a cozy, calming bedtime story where, as the name suggests, nothing much happens. Catherine uses soothing narration, repetition, and comforting sensory details to give a busy mind somewhere quiet to rest. Millions of listeners around the world turn to Nothing Much Happens to quiet their thoughts and make the journey into sleep feel a little easier.
So if you love our stories here, but are curious about a different kind of bedtime listening, you might like to give it a try. You can listen to Nothing Much Happens wherever you get your podcasts, episodes every Monday and Thursday.
Did you know that scientific research has found significant links between having a morning mindfulness practice and the quality of your sleep and emotional health?
