Maybe they didn't think Miami was going to take downs, but they didn't want to run the risk of somebody else moving up to that 11 spot and taking downs.
Because at that point in time, I'm sure they probably had him very high on their board. Extremely high on their board. And here he is, kind of like the Michael Parsons. And they ended up doing a deal with the Eagles. They said, look, we'll trade you, but just don't take, we give you our word, we're not taking Parsons. Sight!
But they took Smitty, and Smitty went 10, and Parsons, if I'm not mistaken, went 11. According to Albert Breer, one head coach earlier today told him, Vegas Oz and the guy with the best chance to get a gold jacket is Caleb Downs. I mean, of all the guys. Right. All the guys that drafted in general. Yeah. I mean, that's high praise. That's high praise.
I've heard a lot of people say that, though, Joe. He's the cleanest player in the draft. I like that. Less margin, and I hate using the term bust, but the less margin of a guy that doesn't meet expectations. Let's do it like that. I got you. I wonder why everybody's so high on him like that, huh? Solid. I mean, you know, played Alabama, so he's well coached under Coach Saban.
Then he goes to Ohio State. If I'm not mistaken, didn't he win the Belitnikoff Award? Not the Belitnikoff, the Thorpe Award.
Downs racked up 257 combined tackles, 16 tackles for losses, a sack and a half, six picks, 12 pass defense, three fourths fumble, and a pair of punt return touchdowns in three seasons in college, and gave up exactly this many touchdowns in coverage in his time at Ohio State. Yeah, he won the Thorpe Award, don't you know? As the nation's top cornerback. Big 10 Defensive Player of the Year.
So think about that now. Look at the guy that's on his roster. And he was the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year. They got Reese. They got Style. They got Big Mac. He was Defensive Player of the Year, Ocho. That speaks volumes. Yeah, he the real deal. Yeah, I like it, I like the pick. I thought he should come off the board right about here.

That's nasty work right there. It's amazing how the draft and offseason acquisition can change the team in a heartbeat, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Waiting on a goddamn 56-year-old quarterback to let him know whether he's coming back or not because you didn't do what you needed to do while you had Ben Roethlisberger. And the thing is, and see what happens is, if they win just enough, and so by the time you get ready to pick a quarterback, all of them gone. So it just so happens. Falcons, look at what y'all doing. Yeah, tough.
So I'm assuming you take Ty Simpson this early. You're saying that he's better than Stetson Bennett, and what you've seen from Stetson Bennett isn't enough to unsee. You don't see him as a future when Matt Stafford decides to walk away. So now the question is, Matthew Stafford's on the clock. Shit me, no he ain't. Not the way he planned.
You know Aaron Rodgers, and Aaron Rodgers won two MVPs in the final three years of his career, four years of his career out there. What'd he do, Ojo? Yeah, you're right. But if he don't pan out, now this NFL is a whole different ballgame. Now I think his job will be much easier. Now is he a gunslinger like goddamn Matthew Stafford? No, no, absolutely not. But again, there might not be there might not be two, three quarterbacks that got the arm talent that Matthew Stafford got right now. I'm talking about in the current NFL right now. There ain't three.
Absolutely not. Because that joker can make every throw. Every one. And I'm talking about with velocity, with touch, the no look. I mean, look. The no look stuff that he be doing. Now, he just got naked with it, man.

I got the moving people coming tomorrow. I had a feeling this was going to happen. You ain't got to worry about nothing. That's a good one, boy. But a lot of people, they high on Ty Simpson. I thought he played well, Ocho. Like the first eight games, he was sensational. And then all of a sudden, I don't know if he got injured. I don't know what happened. But he took a dive and it didn't look good.
i like that pick for the rams i mean i like ty simpson i just don't see anyone really unseating matt stafford unless just some cat some catastrophic injury happens and he can't play or he can't throw i don't know what matt stafford went through last year in training camp where his back was bothering him and it was hurting but he needed to pull that same junk he did last year and do it again because if it's gonna get you to the playoffs and it's gonna get you 12 and five
you know, towards the end of the season, I'm all fine with that, and I can live with that every single season. Yeah, and I think the thing, oh, look, Matthew Stafford came out in what, 2008, 2009? Okay, I thought so, 2009. So this year, what, 18 for him? Because from 09 to 18 is 10 years. 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26. 18, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's how I learned.
Yeah, so basically it's 10 years from the year you come in to a year under. So if you came into 09, you go to 18, that's 10 years. And then you count from there. But hey, and remember Ocho, he on the final year of his contract. Remember he on the side of the two-year deal. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what y'all say.
