Be the right club. Be the right club today.
That's better than most. How about him? That is better than most.
Better than most! Expect anything different?

Greetings, gentlemen. I'm really excited for Philly this week. I think the Philly fans are going to be extra hostile with their Sixers and their Flyers having very unceremoniously exited the premises and the Phillies stink.
If we learn anything, they're just going to take it out on Matt. DJ pie is here as well. Hello, DJ.
Hey, Sully. Thanks for having me on your program. Looking forward to the PGA championship, man. CC. It's going to be a great week in Philly. I'm ready. It is. Hopefully your fellow birds fans are going to lift you up on their shoulders and carry you to a great week.
Fly Eagles fly.
We got a lot to talk about. Today's show is, of course, brought to you by our friends at Titleist and the new GTS drivers. We've seen them all over tour since they launched in late March. Over 50 PGA Tour players have already put a GTS 2, GTS 3, or GTS 4 driver in the bag. And starting this week... You'll be able to get yourself dialed with GTS driver fittings kicking off Wednesday, May 13th.

Chapter 2: What should we know about the Aronimink course?
And stay tuned to Titleist social channels for more GTS updates as well. We've got a ton of great pictures, a ton of great content around this one. As soon as you lay eyes upon this thing, you're going to want to get a fitting yourself. Titleist.com, find a fitting near you. Deej, what are we getting into today?
We're going to talk about the contenders, man. We're going to talk about the guys who are going to be vying for the Wanamaker trophy this week up at Aronamake. I feel like, you know, in some of the previews, we've dashed past people a little too quickly. So we're going to double click on just where's everybody at? What's the state of play for some of these big names?
Maybe give another couple additional names to keep an eye on. But, Solly, first, I think we're going to go through the mink, Aronamake Country Club.
we are i'm going to give a little crash course on aeronamic assuming you haven't od'd uh on aeronamic content leading into this week if you're just now getting caught up this is the first major championship at aeronamic since who won in 1962 does anyone remember gary player i think i said aeronamic country club by the way i'd like to issue an immediate man aeronamic golf club
First mea culpa of many. That's a record correction on this preview episode. Donald Ross golf course that opened in 1928. Gil Hance, of course, performed a restoration of the club in 2017. I got a lot of great info from Jeff Shackelford's newsletter here on the golf course. I didn't know this prior to reading this, though. The mink was scheduled to host the 1993 PGA.
but withdrew because a seven-year waiting list rendered the club unable to meet non-discriminatory requirements. It had no minority members. In 1990, they had to withdraw and were going to be unable to host the 1993 PGA Championship.
That was in the wake of the Shoal Creek stuff.
That was in the wake of the Shoal Creek stuff. But Crooked Stick was the next one up after that one, and it was in the same boat and whatnot. So interesting. I knew absolutely none of that. But also, side note, I learned the 1994 PGA was scheduled to be at Oak Tree in Oklahoma, but it moved to Southern Hills because of the financial collapse of Landmark Land Co., That happened relatively short.
So twice Southern Hills has been called on to host a PGA championship at somewhat last minute.

Chapter 3: Which players are expected to contend for the Wanamaker Trophy?
Do you see, I remember walking with you when you were playing in the pro and with Kevin Kisner at the BMW 2018, I was like, yeah, what do you think about this place? And he was just like, it's a nightmare for me. Like all the bunkers are exactly where I want to hit it. And the example he uses, Dustin Johnson doesn't have to think about any of these bunkers. Uh,
which kind of stuck out to me in terms of like, what, what kind of golf course is this going to favor? And, you know, we only have data from one tournament eight years ago and it was a rain soak week and it's kind of hard to draw from that. And it didn't jump off the page as driving distance is going to rule the day here, but it's,
With this one, again, looking at all the flyovers and having been there in person and experienced the tournament there, I don't see much of any reason for guys to not pull driver on almost all of the par fours and obviously all the par fives. I just don't think there's a ton of thought that's going to go into that. Could be wrong on that.
Maybe some of the bunker punishments off the tee are going to be stronger than what I'm anticipating, but I think it's going to be a bomber's delight. not it's not long enough that you have to like it's not a driver prerequisite to hit the ball far but at the same time like i don't see anything stopping any of the long bombers from using their power to the best of their ability
we might get a little bit of wind looked like maybe 15 to 20 on our gusts and good weather for the most part warming up into the weekend so maybe a little bit more to think about on that front but uh i'm with you i think the it should be a good canvas for the thoroughbreds to to just duke it out right like the the bmw in in 2018 banger leaderboard keegan with the exception of keegan
Keegan, Justin Rose, Horschel, Zander, Rory, Webb Simpson, Tiger, Molinari, Finau, Fleetwood, Fowler, Woodland, JT.
Which, not only thoroughbreds, but great iron players as well, right? Like, not necessarily on that list, and again, this goes to setup and what they'll end up doing with Ruff and all that stuff, but...
Could end up being like an ultra second shot golf course too, which I think gets into some of the interesting stuff you'll see kind of publicized about the bunkers, particularly on, you know, again, the Friday video was great in showing a lot of this stuff off in that Ross was usually very minimal with his bunkers. You know, it was usually a pretty, pretty simple, not easy type of,
bunker setup this one has a lot of like one bunker split up into three parts or four parts which leaves that cool strip in between the bunkers where you might catch some variability of a ball that otherwise would have landed right in the middle of a bunker fault you know fell down to the middle instead getting stuck up on a strip of rough or you know just some added kind of texture around the greens and on some of the landing zones for the tee shot so

Chapter 4: What insights do we have on the players' current form?
That's my, that's my expectation. So if you'll allow me, I'll go through, I'll go through all the holes at varying length. It's not going to be a massive, massive.
Real quick too. Like the, The BMW, they played it as a par 70, and it was still 20 under par.
Right.
The winning score.
Are you all right with what you're hearing, Randy? Is this getting you excited for the PGA?
Not necessarily. I think what resonated the most was just I'm trying to have proper expectations this week. If it can produce an interesting leaderboard come Sunday, that will be what I need from it. My proper test eggs are in the Shinnecock basket later on. I'm not expecting that from a Ronald.
Randy, I think you were curious until you heard Solly's commentary about the bins, the various bins.
You know, we're going to go through some of our picks here. I was not looking at the different bins. Yeah, I'm... We're going to do more of an eye test analysis here, TC.
You're making me want to look up Spieth's wedge play and see how we're looking for my man's grand slam chances.

Chapter 5: How does the course setup impact player performance?
So very not far from the green is going to be some out of bounds. It will add a little risk reward if guys are trying to go for it on the days it's moved up.
Kind of like a sick.
Yeah. It's the only thing that matters. And it's all we have left TC. I don't know what other tools we have in the toolbox besides OB. And if it's like, I guess the downside would be, hopefully it doesn't stop people from going for it. But man, if you're pushing it up around, you know, 300, 320 yards, it's, Man, I don't know.
I think that you have to have some downside like that to at least make it somewhat interesting. If that causes everybody to not go for it, then so be it. But we got to have some risk.
I think I'd like it more if that shitty long grass was in play and you hit it there and you're totally boned and you got to find a way to hole it from there versus if it leads to everyone bailing right and the up and downs are relatively easy, that's not going to be a good thing. I also would be surprised if that would be the case. I would think that they thought about that.
So I guess you'd have to move it. Yeah, you'd have to put the tee jammed up in that front right corner on the day when the, or sorry, the pin up in that front right corner when the tee is moved up.
I would think so. Make it as inaccessible as possible from if you bail, the farther right you bail would make sense.
It's scary, Kerry.
The 14th, 216-yard par 3 again kicks off this difficult finishing stretch. We get our real big, the meaty par 4 is the 15th. It's 546 yards. The fairway tilts Hard from right to left. It has been moved back 40 yards from the last time we saw it. It was 516. Then it was the fifth hardest hole in 2018. Punch bowl style green.

Chapter 6: What are the historical performances at Aronimink?
It is so sneaky. It looks like a golf short, but it is basically like gym short material. It is great to wear around the house, but when I just want to go sneak over to the golf course and get... quick 30-minute range session in. I don't have to change. It just serves both functions very well. It's incredible.
Based on your recent video, I don't think you change anyway. You were wearing sweatpants out there.
It was filmed at 8.15 in the evening. The haters can taste it here. but it's got a real button and fly and, and it's, it's a, it's a very nice pair of shorts. They just dropped boxers as well. I'm not going to show you those. I'm not going to model those for you, but they are very, very comfortable. They're made out of the same materials, their performance polos.
They're great for the golf course on a hot day. They bring you everyday comfort as well. Lastly, the Roback tailwind sports shirt. If you're looking to impress the lady in your life, wear a tailwind sports shirt. It's soft, but lightweight. It's very comfortable. It's,
It's a perfect casual button-down you can throw on for a post-round, for a meal in the clubhouse, or for date night or anything like that. Just a nice dress shirt, the performance material. It's fantastic. It's wonderful. You should try it out. Roback.com, R-I-H-O-B-A-C-K.com. Use code NLU for 20% off your first order through the end of the week. That's the aeronomic recap.
That took a little longer than I was expecting, but I feel sufficiently prepared to dive in here for the PGA Championship preview.
Glory's last shot, baby.
That's right.
Glory's second chance.

Chapter 7: What betting odds are associated with key players?
you know and and so i was a little bit concerned there just with he kind of laid an egg uh in that final round he um he shot two under um lost to keegan by two he was he was two back that final round keegan shot 64 or he shot 68 so
um no i mean i think you know this place you wonder about the master's hangover he seems very motivated i think this is the kind of major that he needs to knock off if he is going to get to his stated goal of it sounds like 10 majors at this point is you know he like he needs to get some
I don't want to call them cheap ones, but some lower friction ones, some more efficient transactions on some PGAs like this. I think his PGA record has not been stellar the last few years. He has not had a T5 in a PGA since 2018. That's kind of jarring. Right? Yeah. Shocking. You know, of course, he's got two of these, but so does JT, right?
So I think he needs to step it up in this department, win himself another PGA. And I don't know. I think Rory, it's a great golf course for him in the way that, like, most PGA Tour golf courses are great golf courses for him. Yeah. Like, cool, like, you hit your driver farther than everybody else, and that's a true weapon.
And if your putter cooperates and you hit your wedge as well, like, you're going to be there on Sunday. And then it's just a matter of making some putts. So I think plus 850 feels very, very fair for Rory at the moment.
There's a very easy to make a very bullish case just based on the golf course that like this should driver flip wedge for him everywhere, like everywhere. Like, why wouldn't he be in contention? I guess the flip side would be like, all right, yes, we've seen him turn over and against all odds, an entirely new leaf and master Augusta national, right?
That's the major he's been able to put in the rear view and now bag two of these, but yeah, you go back to the PGA championship instead of, you know, 50 contenders, there's more than that. Yeah.
I don't know how many exactly contenders there are for the PGA, but it's a full 156 man field, you know, and a, and a golf course that's going to, you know, it's going to be a little harder to separate yourself on that. You just, there's got to be massively on and that's a different pressure.
And we, you know, after winning the masters last year, he didn't really maintain that through the rest of the majors. So, but at the same time, like you look at this course and just like, I don't know how you would ever finish outside the top five this week.

Chapter 8: How do the hosts predict the tournament outcome?
Oh, hell yeah.
It's too short? You think the Philly fans are going to ride him?
No. Like, what if this is too much of a PGA Tour event for him? And my guy, you know, obviously two wins at the Masters, carrying a lot of weight low-key, and then you throw in the players, which is another big tournament. Yeah. But when we're talking about run-of-the-mill PGA Tour events, my guy hasn't been winning a lot of them the last couple years. It's interesting.
Maybe he can't get up for it, TC.
Maybe his fourth major this year will be the Aussie Open at Kingston.
Exactly. I'm saying this tongue-in-cheek, but you just look at... The sheer amount of wins, Scotty, compared to Rory, it is pretty striking. It is. Those two Masters wins are carrying a lot of weight for him.
Part of the bear case, too, is Quail is your golf course, man. Didn't really put up much of a fight this past weekend, but you know.
We covered that last night. He had the left-to-right win on the range. That's right.
He hasn't won a PGA in 12 years? Like, come on. That's what we got to be. I expect that's what the Philly fans are calling him.
