Hello and welcome back to season 10 of Normal Gossip. I'm your host, Rachel Hampton, and in each episode of this podcast, we are going to bring you an anonymous morsel of gossip from the real world. Today's gossip is a normal gossip legend at this point. I am so happy to say that today's guest is Nadira Gahl. Nadira is a staff writer of culture at Slate. You may know her from her sharp takes on the latest Netflix hit or as a mainstay on our RSS feeds. You also may remember how we traumatized Nadira back in season eight with the Perpetual Stew episode. She's done bonus episodes and subscriber episodes with us, and she even flew out to Portland to gossip with us when we went on tour. So it is probably extremely obvious that she was one of my favorite people to gossip with in all of the world.

And you know what? It's never too dated for me. So you have been on Normal Gossip a few times at this point. You have given me gossip multiple times. Okay, so a few people have asked me this, and I don't think so, which is so funny because I know that she listens to my work and she reads my work, but she's never mentioned it, and I've been too scared to ask. I don't know. I feel like if she knew that my 16th birthday party was spoiled, she would have mentioned it by now, which makes me think that she doesn't know. But I'm not poking that bear.

Just for listeners who do not have the absolute honor of listening to that episode with Nadira, she told us a beautiful story where in which you relayed to us that your 16th birthday party, which was a surprise for some. So a little bit of lore about me that people are always fascinated to hear is that I also trigger warning here for throw up, vomit, whatever you want to call it. I didn't throw up until I was 22 years old. How'd that work? Yeah, that's always the question people have. I don't know. It wasn't that I wasn't ill as a child, because I certainly was.
