Yes, yes. And you've been in LA. LA. Oh my gosh, one of my favorite cities in the world. I love I already can't wait to get back.
Well, it's been a big few weeks in fashion, hasn't it? So there's so much to unpack on this episode. So I feel like we should jump right into it. And maybe starting with the Emmys, which actually was on when I was in LA. Really? It's pretty cool. Oh that's fun. Yeah. Super cool.
So the Emmys went down just over a week ago. The public sentiment has been that they were a little bit lackluster, even boring. So like let's just get into why that might be. I'm gonna be honest with you. When the Emmys were actually happening, I was like on death's door lying in bed with the flu after my toddler had the flu. Usually I recap. I'm like glued to my phone looking at the looks as they come through, refreshing, getty, like you know, like crazy. Doing a recap. I know it was just like dead air on my Instagram because I did not have like the human capacity to post anything, which is really disappointing for me. So I'm glad that we're taking taking a minute to actually talk About it here, and I was like, I'll save it for the show.
Yeah. I'll save it for the show. For the show. So I said nothing. So I said nothing. Yeah, it's been about. Yeah, it's been about a week.
It's given me a minute to think actually and kind of force me to take a breath, take a backseat and go, hmm, what was the like catch the vibe a little bit? And I have to say I don't think I would have been doing that kind of breathless coverage anyway had I felt well on the day because I felt it was quite lackluster this year. Do you agree? Absolutely.
I was waiting for the moments to sort of pop through, whether it be through content on Instagram or TikTok, but there was no sort of standout moments. But I was incredibly underwhelmed. Yeah. Underwhelmed is yeah. And vibe. I had to take a minute as well and think, well, hang on, it's the Emmys. This isn't the Metgall or the Golden Globes. Like the dress code is black tie. It's not as performative as other shows and awards. So I thought is that the reason why I'm not as wowed by these dresses and what people are wearing. But even so being black tie, I was still very just like lackluster about all the different looks. Besides Zendaya.
She's really the only one that kind of shone and really brought her A game. Hey. Do you know, I do think in recent years though, that Emmys has been on par almost with the Oscars. And the globes because of the sort of place that like prestige TV has taken in the culture. Now, especially since COVID, it's kind of been the era of streaming and the era of TV, right?
