A final vote on Jay Clayton's nomination to be President Trump's Director of National Intelligence expected this week. The Senate advanced Clayton's nomination Monday on a 51-43 party-line vote. President Trump spoke in Michigan Monday after visiting a General Motors facility. He touted Republican policies in the swing state just over three months ahead of the midterms.

A 15 year old has been arrested for firing into a crowd at a Seattle festival Sunday night. Prosecutors say he was arrested on suspicion of three counts of assault against surviving victims who include a two year old child. At a juvenile court hearing, a judge ordered the suspect to remain in custody. Court documents allege that a 19-year-old man was also detained in the shooting but died of a gunshot wound. And police are still looking for a third unknown suspect. Police call the shooting gang-related. Nonprofit representatives say the young man who died was involved in their programs, seeking to interrupt cycles of gun violence. For NPR News, I'm Amy Radel in Seattle.
