Just days after NATO jets shot down Russian drones over Poland, Romania says its airspace was violated. Terry Schultz reports.
Romania scrambled to F 16 Saturday to track a Russian drone flying through its airspace, trailing the vehicle until it disappeared from the radar and posed no threat to civilians on the ground. Romanian defense minister Ayonit Mostyanus said on X, his government condemns Russia's reckless behavior, which threatens regional stability, and said NATO countries remain vigilant and ready to defend every inch of Allied airspace. Poland also put its defenses on high alert. Latter day and temporarily closed an airport in the eastern city of Lublin while NATO and Polish jets patrolled the airspace during Russian drone strikes in eastern Ukraine. NATO's new Eastern Sentry mission is assembling additional military resources, including fighter jets and anti drone equipment, to counter potential threats from Russian drones.
