What is Secretary of State Marco Rubio saying about the Israel‑Qatar conflict?
Live from NPR News, I'm Dale Wilman. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is in Israel for a two day visit. It comes just one week after Israel bombed Hamas political leaders in Qatar. Rubio says he's expressing President Trump's unhappiness with the attack that killed at least six people. Arab leaders are gathering there to discuss a response to what Qatar's Prime Minister says is Israel's widening circle of war, and Piers Kerry Khan has more.
In remarks ahead of the regional response summit beginning Monday, Qatar's Prime Minister called on the international community to quote, abandon double standards and punish Israel for its crimes. He also added, the Israeli attack would not stop Qatar's efforts to mediate an end to the war in Gaza. In Israel, Rubio visited the Western Wall with Israel's Prime Minister, who equated the strength of the relationship with Rubio says he's expressing President Trump's displeasure with the attack on Doha, while also showing unfettered support of Israel.
How are Arab leaders and Qatar responding to Israel’s recent attacks?
Next week the UN is set to focus on the war in Gaza with major countries expected to announce recognition of a Palestinian state. Kerry Khan in PR News Jerusalem.
Eastern Europe remains on edge this weekend after nineteen Russian drones entered Polish airspace last week. President Trump says the incursion may have been a mistake by Moscow, but Tes uh Texas Congressman Michael McCall disagrees. The Republican Sunday offered a dire warning.
We've never seen anything like this in recent times.
Why are U.S. officials concerned about Russian drones in Polish airspace?
And so what I'm concerned about is that the escalation here uh and the temperature rising. Uh we gotta be very careful not to be on the precipice of a World War Three.
McCall was speaking on ABC's this week. Charlie Kirk's Church in Phoenix held its first Sunday service since the conservative activist was killed last week, as Empire's Sarah Ventry reports church leadership is looking ahead at how to continue Kirk's legacy.
Sunday morning's church service at Dream City Church in Phoenix emphasized the impact of Kirk's life. And the ways in which this church community, which has strong links to Kirk's Turning Point USA, plans to continue his legacy. There was an open forum for people to ask questions, and conservative commentator Brandon Tatum was also in attendance.
What legacy is the Dream City Church planning for activist Charlie Kirk?
These cowards These cowards thaw. That they could end or eliminate the movement, they just made it bigger. They just made it stronger.
A large service to remember Charlie Kirk is planned next week at the stadium where the Arizona Cardinals play. Sarah Ventry, NPR News.
Fox News host Brian Kilmead is apologizing for comments he made this week about killing homeless people. A panel discussion on Fox and Friends last Wednesday turned to a homeless man who was arrested in connection with the murder.
How did Fox News host Brian Kilmead’s comments on homelessness spark controversy?
Kilmead said anyone who is homeless and did not accept offered public services should be given an involuntary lethal injection. He then added, just kill them. On Sunday, he called his comments callous. You're listening to NPR News. The Trump administration is sending a fifty eight million dollar request to Congress for additional security funds for the executive and judicial branches. The request comes in the wake of the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. News of the request comes from a White House official who's not authorized to share the request publicly. Some of the money would be used for enhanced security for Supreme Court justices. It was a Super Bowl rematch Sunday when the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles traveled to play the Kansas City Chiefs and the Eagles won again twenty to seventeen.
Greg Eklund has more from Kansas City.
In the same manner as Super Bowl fifty nine, the Eagles defense came up with a key interception. When the Chiefs were intent on taking a fourth quarter lead deep in Eagles territory, that interception changed the momentum and allowed Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts to cap the ensuing drive with a one yard touchdown run.
It's something that you have to take pride in. Take pride in finding a way. Take take pride in winning, one, and take take pride in
