I'm Ruth Butanen, CEO of the U.S. Faster Payments Council, and this is Off the Rails from the U.S. Faster Payments Council. And with that, let's get to that conversation with Cole Augustine, Galactic Trade Consultants. All right, we're joined by Cole Augustine with Galactic Trade Consultants. Cole, thanks for joining. Hey, Reed. Thanks for having me. Good to see you. All right. Let's start off with some quick background on you. So our audience kind of has a sense of who they're listening to and why they should care what you have to say. So what experiences in payments, what areas are you focused on, stuff like that?
Definitely. Well, I really try to think of myself as kind of a deep generalist. So focused on payments, but really beyond payments as well. He started my early career in treasury sales, relationship management, and then spent most of the latter part of my career doing product management and product development. A lot of that focused on cross-border payments and international trade. As far as other things, most recently I was working as director of product for a fintech focused on cross-border payments. And then... through, I guess, partially through my consultancy, but I always like to give a plug for my hobby organization. I'm also the co-founder of a debate group, and I think I had another member, Greg Lloyd, on recently, of the Dead Bankers Society.
So we do modified Oxford-style debates, gets us into conference, and lets us say things that we might not normally be able to say if it wasn't structured as a debate.
You know, I know about the Dead Banker Society, of course. Greg and I are good friends as well. And I think the one thing I'm looking for is an invitation to participate.
