Okay, let's get to it. Oilers picking up last night, acquiring forward Isaac Howard from the Tampa Bay Lightning. In exchange, going back the other way is forward Sam O'Reilly. chance earlier today to catch up with the newest Edmonton Oiler. As I say, Isaac. Likes going by Ike, but it was a lot of fun to uh check in with him today and uh find out how he's feeling about things. So let's get right to it. Hey, welcome to Edmonton. How you feeling about things?
I I'm super psyched up. Um, you know, such an incredible feeling. Um, you know, I couldn't be couldn't be more excited. Um, you know, nothing but but excitement and pure joy coming from me.
You've been here before though, right? Like how long ago was that? You played in the brick?
Yeah, yeah, I played in the Brig tournament. Um, you know, I think that was like eleven years ago now, so you know, I think I was ten. Um stay at the West Edmonton Mall, went to that water park, the the roller coasters and play a lot of knee knee hockey during that tournament.
Did you light it up in the tournament? Do you remember that?
Uh I actually didn't. No. We uh we we struggled in that term. I thought we had a good squad. Um we had some other some other guys on there, like we had Fowler, Brindley, Chesley, um, you know plenty of other guys, but we kinda Think we lost in the quarterfinals or to go to the quarterfinals, something like that. But um so it could have been a little bit better, but
well let's uh let's get to more about now. Let's uh let's talk about the Edmonton Oilers uh acquiring your rights and then you sign an entry level contract right away. So uh you're obviously pumped to be here, but you're giving up a year of your uh your time at at Michigan State as well. Was that a tough decision for you?
Yeah, I mean, I've absolutely loved this place. Um, you know, I'm I'm so grateful for Michigan State, you know, Nighty taking me in, the coaching, you know, the teammates, you know, i in the school. Uh I've been, you know, so lucky t to be at such an incredible spot. Um And you know, at the end of the day I thought um it was best best for me to probably move on and you know, I was so excited about this opportunity.
